Anecdote check in time

I do. A short amusing or interesting story about a real person...
how often did he go around posting shit against how COVID was fake news?

Since he is quite the Luddite, I assume never. But, then I told the anecdote.
older guy I play tennis with was very anti-COVID...way before the vaccine came out.

Well he and 13 people got it at once at a party he was attending, his wife included.

she ended up on a ventilator and almost lost her life to it. Talked to him the other day about it and he was preparing for her to not make it out.

He has since changed his tune about it.

it sucks to have someone go through that when they didn't need to

I would put my BIL in the extreme anti-vaxxer camp. The only time them old farm boys want to see a doctor is when they are dead.

was he also anti-mask?

I wouldn't call that "technology" really

I really think he is a fatalist. If it is going to happen, it will happen.

Still feels like shit. Going for the long haul.
He’s stable so far though? The care and tools to fight are so much better now. Here’s to hoping….

From what I have heard he is just pissed about missing work.
and likely not the kind of guy to say "well, guess I was wrong about that..."?

He doesn't argue about it, he just clams up and refuses to engage
stubborn bastard.

well I am glad he is hopefully on the road to recovery and you didn't lose a brother

Yep. My brothers in laws were super anti vax. Probably just down to earth fatalists as well. Had my 16 year old nephew convinced against the vaccine too. I figured no biggie since he’s 16.

But the in laws caught it bad. Brothers FIL told all of them he wished he had gotten the shots and at least made this less severe. Nephew decided to get the shots.

FIL died two weeks ago. MIL was close but recovering.

There….another anecdote. There is just nothing amusing about it. I don’t share it with a “people like me were right” vindication. I share it while I’m shaking my head. Loss is loss.

@Kburjr I’m hoping he bounces back and pulls through just fine. No one deserves death for being on the wrong side of this coin.
