Considered a Southern state or no? To me Arkansas seems more like a Midwest state, sort of same boat as Missouri and Oklahoma.

I think Arkansas' perception of a Southern state is because of it's membership of the SEC.

Anything below I-44 might as well be the south.

Well maybe not the south but it's not midwestern, either.

Is it humid? Does it have gators? Giant snakes? these are types of things that classify as southern

It borders Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. That should tell you all you need to know about how "South" Arkansas is.

But borders Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri...and maybe a few hour drives from Kansas.

To the South of Missery, and Mexas and Okie are generally considered to be "southwest", along with Zona and NMex. This is as difficult as you make it.

Draw a line at Ohio. Anything below that is the south
Close to the answer....

Look at the northern most border of the states of Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee and North Carolina.

Notice how they all seem to share the same 37th parallel as their Northern most border. All states below that line were slave holding states. Oklahoma has a panhandle because Texas, in all it's wisdom, wanted to be considered a Southern state so they gave that portion above the 37th parallel to Oklahoma.

Is Missouri Southern?
You could MAYBE get away with calling the most southern part it if you're being super generous. MAYBE.

The rest of the state isn't even close to southern.
