Did the NFL pressure Davis to fire Gruden

This is exactly where I’ve been on this today. I can’t figure logical reasoning why the league would cover for Snyder.

OK, he’s an owner. He’s also probably the least respected and liked owner in the league. And….if they had to pressure Davis on Gruden just to cover for Snyder…..

Best I’ve been able to cobble is the various avenues that have pushed this forward are some of the same avenues that were just recently wondering what Gruden did that was so bad. Fwiw….
why would billionaire owners be afraid of a hard look at one organization and try and point the focus to a coach so the owners stuff doesn't come out?
The rest of the owners would likely be happy to see Snyder go.
what if they had correspondence with him that was also damning? it is what it is

Consider the family. Al Davis, who may have literally been Satan, famously fired coaches and wouldn't pay them their guaranteed salaries. The League let him get away with it, because of his history as a founder of the AFL and the probable kickbacks he was receiving from the rest of the teams after the merger. Mark Davis pissed all over the 'Rooney Rule' to hire Gruden, so it wouldn't surprise anyone if he wanted to hold onto his coach even after the firestorm of 10-year-old tweets no one even knew they should be outraged about.
The Raiders hired Tom Flores and Art Shell before anyone required them to interview HC candidates that weren’t white.

They hired football guys, to coach football players, with no racism involved. From 1979-1994 they had a minority HC. And not many franchises were more successful.

Same thing happened when they hired Gruden. Minus the repeated success.

Al Davis just cared about winning and not skin color.

Someone had to be sacrificed because 650k emails were exposed. Whomever holds the cards decided Gruden would be the one....or a buncha' mgmt., owners and players would have to suffer woke consequences.

Can you imagine how many emails are in there talking about players getting busted, beating the hell out of strangers and their families, owners looking to screw players on contracts, covering serious injuries, etc etc etc??

He has made them a shitload of money. Don’t kill the golden goose.
A monkey in a suit could have made them a shitload of money the last 20 years. Actually, that sounds like Goddell (calm down….he’s white….I can say it).

But, I am reminded that it’s an idiot like Goddell that keeps so much heat off of them. So….that’s probably still a strong motivation at play.

They point is: they don't care about the rules. I'm not even sure what "rule" it would've been that Gruden violated, hence the pressure.

He didn't get fired, dumbass

And there is already a thread about this.

Mark Davis loves Gruden.

He gave the man a ten year deal and more control of the franchise than any HC besides tHoody.

But Gruden called Sheriff Rog’ a fag, so…
If I'm Mark Davis and wanted to keep Gruden around, but I've got media, fans and professional associates up my ass about him calling Goodell a fag, all I say is "who hasn't?"

Uttering those two simple words in the form of a question flips the angry mob of self-righteous bully cunts pointing a scolding finger at your boy into mass-self-reflection and converts the entire environment into a comedy roast.

Wish this would’ve happened. That could’ve been the sound bite of the year.

Man, I would love for the mob to self reflect and calm down a bit. But, let’s face it…..Davis may have been able to use that reply in one on one communication….but if it got out he’s in the cauldron with Gruden.

Goodell and not Gruden is the problem with the NFL.

He might not be the only one. The issue is that NFL ownership is perhaps THEE most exclusive club in America. You have to check a boatload of boxes in order to be approved. You can kick Snyder to the curb, but who do you replace him with? It's not enough to just have a ton of money, Trump proved that decades ago. The other owners want somebody just like themselves, who they assume will not be another embarrassment.

I'd say it in front of a million people on live national television. For every one person that gets their panties twisted about the joking retort there's 50,000 that laugh it off then stfu about it. And if you're one of the 20 people that still have a sandy vagina about it, come at me and I'll roast you too. I'm the Raiders owner; my franchise has been the league rebels since we joined the NFL and if you want a piece of the rebellion hop on board! I bet we make a hell of a lot more fans that day than lose them. And when Goodell and the other owners notice a massive spike Raiders merch sales, they ain't ousting shit because C.R.E.A.M.

the other Owners of WFT has tried to get Snyder out. I dont think that is the reasoning for a cover up (if there is one) I think if he went down due to whatever is in these emails might open a pandoras box of problems the NFL doesnt want. Gruden would have been a great distraction from this, if the people wanting the investigation would have let it go. But now that the vegas HC is the only guy to get in trouble over these WFT emails. Even I am like. I think we need to see the rest of these emails. BTW if there is any criminal charges. (I havent paid much attention to the skins) They can be court ordered.

Goodell had a hard on for Gruden when he saw the email calling him a faggot.

They wouldn't force him out for telling the truth.

I'm pretty sure it was the comment about the guy with the mumbo lips.
