Sleepy Monday Morning

Hotdish (Tater Tot Casserole) Recipe | Food Network ...

  • Hotdish is an easy, one-dish dinner often served in Minnesota at such large gatherings as family reunions, potlucks or church suppers. Don't be turned off by its humble appearance; the combination of cream of mushroom soup, corn, green beans, beef and a delightful crispy potato topping (the more taters, the better!) is universally likeable.
That’s one kind of hot dish, you heathen.

Not a fan of pasties. My kids like them though. We get them when we go up to northern MN.

My aunt makes a version called fleishkuechle.
pasties are the tassels that go over the nipples, right?

you have a weird homelife...

Think teutonic eggs rolls
I don't know wtf a cabbage roll is in Minn. (those people are a little different).

What I've had here is like a stuffed pepper except with cabbage.

Anything that can hold ground beef and tomatoes and tomato sauce is delicious.

Sounds like my first go at Catch-22. First started it in 7th grade study hall. Didn't quite get it.
I feel you there.

I was fortunate to go to a particularly high end K-8th private school and they had us reading all kinds of classic novels starting in 5th. Every one that I've re-read as an adult I've been surprised at how different it is than I remembered.

Fine chopped cabbage wrapped in a thin wrap and deep fried. Seasoning is by choice. Only way I eat Cooked cabbage.

Found a recipe where you cook down bacon, then slice up cabbage and cook it in the bacon fat. Staple of my St. Patrick's Day cooking now.

So you're saying they told me I was paying for cabbage rolls but it was really a hot dish?

My son must have found it too. He's a big fan.
I don't eat cabbage often, and it's usually in a slaw when I do eat it. Stuffed cabbage and that fried cabbage do happen from time to time, though.

Shopping isn't fun.
no shit. walked into Sam's yesterday and their app wasn't working to check out on my phone. Looked at the lines and walked right the fuck out. Fuuuuuuuuuuuck that.
