Your Top 6

I am going to do something different here. Instead of ranking teams based on their ranking or what I think they deserve right now, I am going to rank teams based on how good I really think they are.

I feel like there is a clear top 3:

1. Alabama
2. Georgia
3. Ohio State

I am banking on one of these 3 teams winning the whole thing. After that:

4. Oklahoma
5. Oregon
6. Cincinnati

I am still not sure on Michigan. They are outside waiting but I won't them to play someone. Michigan State is like Iowa, great season but they are not competitive against top notch teams.

If I was a poll voter, I would put Michigan and Michigan State in top 6 right now based on performance but I don't think they are top 6 teams.
I've stated in this post that tOSU is rounding into shape. That said, let's look at their schedule:

W @Minn (3-1/5-2) - 45-31 (that game could have been different if Minny doesn't lose their star RB)
L Ore (3-1/6-1) - 35-28
W Tulsa (2-1/3-4) - 41-20
W Akron (1-3/2-6) - 59-7
W @Rutgers (0-4/3-4) 52-13
W Maryland (1-3/4-3) 66-17
W @Indiana (0-4/2-5) 54-7

The combined W/L of the teams they have played in "rounding into shape" is:
Conf - 4-15
Overall - 14-22

It's not like they have played anyone. They are starting to look the part, but November will be interesting when they start playing teams that seem to be better.

That’s fair but they are saying OSU hasn’t beaten anyone with a pulse but NCSU is a good win.
Look at my post above. I've said that tOSU seems to be rounding into shape. Then you look at who they are rounding into shape against and you have to wonder. Tulsa, Akron, and then the dregs of the B1G. Every team plays teams like that ... we get them in our last 4 games while tOSU got that front loaded.

So do we get to say that Ohio State’s win over Minnesota is a win over a decent team?
Absolutely, so long as we realize they likely lose that game if the Minny RB doesn't get hurt (part of the game, I know).

As you can see in my posts above, my question about tOSU has to do with their last 5 games when people, including me, are starting to say that tOSU is starting to look like the tOSU we are used to. Are we really sure when you look at those 5 teams?

Like I said, going to see what's up in November-ish.

Ohio State was up 10 when he got hurt. I don’t think it’s fair to say they “likely” lose

I stand corrected, I thought Minny was ahead when he was injured. Anyway, it doesn't affect my line of thought about tOSU.

Hell no.. I like meaningful football games, only communists are against more win or go home games.
Couldn't have said it better and especially like the communist touch! 12 is going to be fantastic.

It's not meaningful when it's a blowout and we know it's going to be a blowout going in. Do you really want to see Alabama play the 12th team in? We are talking like Wake Forest or Coastal Carolina kinda crap.

First, the way it is setup it isn't likely that the no. 1, UGA not Bama, will play the 12th team. More likely they will play the no. 8 team. the first 4 games, between the no. 5-12 teams would be competitive more often than not.

Second, there is no one who is saying that today the games will be overly competitive. Experience indicates they won't be. The idea behind this all is to (1) be more inclusive which will keep more fanbases engaged longer into the season. If the CFP had started with 12 teams, 47 teams would have played at least 1 CFP game. As it is now, we are already down to UGA, Bama, tOSU, UM, MSU, Iowa, Cincy, OU, Ore, Pitt and Wake. Over the next 3 weeks, 3 or 4 of those will be eliminated. With 12, there would be at least 25 teams still with a chance (all top 25 have 2 losses or less (9 zero losses, 11 with 1, 5 with 2). \

And then (2) try to drive some parity into the game. One of the main reasons that a recruit goes to a school is to win championships. When you are eliminated before the season even beings, or in the first few weeks, it drive players to the better teams. Recruiting has never been so skewed ... and as a Dawg, I am loving it. But, if players could stay home and have a shot, or go to a team where they get better PT and still get in the CFP you might find some of players going to second tier teams. Don't get me wrong ... UGA outspends the no. 2 spending team by a million dollars. UGA's 3.6 million recruiting budget dwarfs most everyone else, and it gets results. And, the Blue Bloods and Elite teams will be the Blue Bloods and the Elite teams and get more than their fair share. But, take a NC State/Pitt/Wake this year ... what if they had been able to simply get 2 or 3 top 300 players they otherwise might not get? That could make a difference down the line, driving some parity into the game.

Finally, commie, more CFB is better than less. /thread

I despise OSU, but that comment is absolute nonsense. OSU was up 31-21. Abrahim already had 30 carries. You are talking like he went down in the 1st quarter. It was the 4th quarter. OSU wasn't going to lose that game whether Abrahim was hurt or not.

Now go f yourself for making me stick up for OSU.

Go fuck yourself for not reading the full thread where this was already pointed out and I said: "I stand corrected, I thought Minny was ahead when he was injured. Anyway, it doesn't affect my line of thought about tOSU."

I responded after reading your post. So go f yourself for making me stick up for OSU when you already figured out you were wrong. :)

Why not? People said Georgia was going to roll Cincy last year. Bowls are filled with shitty games. Happy to give someone a shot at the title, maybe it’s every 10 years or so, but you will get the occasional unforgettable game. I don’t care if the best team wins. I am good with the best team at that moment. In the end it is about entertainment, not some moral outrage that the team you thought was the best didn’t win the title

#1 vs #12 in a rout is why I like the BYE concept if we go to a twelve team playoff. Let's thin the herd a bit before we have the top dogs start playing. They earned it. Games like that would be like me standing in the men's room and peeing on Mike Tyson's foot.

I think it's more a long the lines of just how dominant they are being against those teams. Everyone knows the teams aren't the good but the games have been bloodbaths.

Edit: I see you've already been called out twice on the first part of this post so I'll retract mine

I like Byes for the top 2 seeds. I have always said that, but I am happy to go to 14.

based on current rankings.. Georgia and Cincy get a bye (that is funny)

Bama vs Wake
OU vs A&M
OHio State vs UK
Mich vs ND
MSU vs Ole Miss
Oregon vs Iowa

next weekend (assuming favorites win)
Georgia vs Oregon
Cincy vs MSU
Bama vs Michigan
OU vs OSU

how could anyone be against that?

Oklahoma has had some adversity. They've been punched in the mouth several games and fought back to win.

They still have to play the top 3 remaining teams in the conf. @ OSU 6-1, @ Baylor 6-1 and ISU 5-2. We'll know after November if this team is ready for the playoffs.
