Series Thread World Series: Braves vs. Astros

After 5 games of hearing Ron Darling, Joe Buck sounds like a less overrated version of Vin Scully. The best part about being at game six wasn’t the excitement of witnessing history in person or the energy of the crowd, it was being able to enjoy a game without hearing Ron Darling
I don’t really get all of the Joe Buck hate. It’s like people have forgotten how much of an upgrade he is over guys like Tim McCarver.

That whole “that was a disgusting act” deal when Randy Moss pretended to moon the Green Bay crowd just makes him come off as pretentious. And the hair plug addiction.

I’d still rather listen to him over McCarver or Scully. If Vin Scully announced for any other team, he’d just be known as the old guy who rambles on about games that were played 50 years ago instead of the one being played now.

i'm not gonna pretend that Joe Buck is great, but the hate he gets online is way too much. tbh, I think it is one of those things where its cool to hate on him, so all the nerds join in and start talking shit about him

you know who I think actually sucks? Gus Johnson. Calm down lil guy, no one should be that excited over a simple first down.

Won’t get an argument from me about Scully.

I won’t be satisfied until Curt Schilling and John Rocker are calling every World Series game

I’m not capable of throwing shade at Smoltz. He and Chipper were my two favorites
tbh, when i think of the Atlanta Braves, Chipper and Smoltz are the two guys that come to mind first

i still hate that Smoltz played his last year in Boston and St. Louis. Fortunately, he was so bad that year nobody really remembers it

The checks cleared, so maybe not, but I bet he regrets that final season. It was pretty clear he was done the year before

You going to put up 5 runs in the first two innings and win 6-2 in a game that was never close.... AND complain about the umpires??

Freaking A fell asleep in the bottom of the 5th.. these games are on to late for me! :gaah:

Tucker Davidson replaced Charlie Morton on the roster. Wasn’t expecting that. Expected Touki or Muller, was hoping for Strider. Chance to be a legend, don’t miss it

But, Davidson wasn’t terrible in his 4 starts this year. Sub 4 ERA, sub 1.2 WHIP and averaged 5 innings

Interesting choice. Basically just throwing anything against the wall and hoping it sticks

It’s been a long season, but IIRC, he was on a good little run for us and then got hurt. I’m fine with it. Games with Fried and Anderson pitching are now even more critical, but if anything maybe he can cover 3-4 innings in the bullpen game

John Smoltz gets a shit ton of hate online too
I don't hate Smoltz, I just don't think he's that good. He's the king of saying obvious shit. "The team that scores more is going to have the better chance of winning". "He has the most rbi's in the league because of his ability to hit with men on base."

Plus there was the incident in the Sox-Stros series where he was adamant the guys hand came off third base when it clearly never did. Was just strange. But he's not a pretentious or biased asshole like Ron Darling. So I don't complain about it. And i generally like Joe Buck as well.
