Guess the CFP Top 25

Funny how you forget the massive blown calls that go for Michigan.
I'm sure there's been some....but I don't think any have been on the scale of what I'm talking about. Only thing I can really think of is a VT TD being overturned that let Hoke win the bowl game in like 2012.

I'll throw you a bone. You did totally whip Wisconsin's ass this year.
And I think that win requires perspective to understand what I'm talking about. The last time Michigan beat Wisconsin in Madison, was the same year (or maybe even year before?) that Spartan Bob game took place. Outside of some bowl wins here or there, that is one of the best regular season wins I've seen Michigan win on TV and it's against a 5-3 Wisconsin team.

It is the only game this year where Wisconsin was beaten in all 3 phases of the game. Even our defense looked pedestrian.

And? They were left out…. With one loss.

I said the only 12-1 P5 champ the ever be left out was Ohio State. TCU/Baylor didn’t go 12-1.

You really are this stupid, aren’t you.

How am I wrong? That isn't pro SEC West it's anti-Big 12 and the competition. I mean you aren't going to argue that you guys are leaving stiffer competition in the Big 12 than you will get in your new league are you?

Penn State vs Michigan 2016? Or were you at that game so it doesn’t count?

Yet here we are.

Sorry, extra feisty. Hangry and starting a divorce got me ready to fight.
Well if I can be your punching bag to get you through that is the least I can do.

Fine I did forget that one so let me rephrase....no SEC team has gotten blown out in the playoff.

The point is the SEC has represented well and that matters. In 2017 if Auburn had beat Georgia for the second time in the SECCG they would have been in as the committee was signaling the crap out that.

It's a moot point because Auburn is not going to win out this year and we most likely lose this weekend but hypothetically yeah they are in because they would have the two best losses in the country and the two best wins in Georgia and Alabama plus two other top 10 wins. The resume would be better than anyone on the table.
What 1 team does from a conference or even 2 or 3, has no weight on what another team will do

Oregon wins first playoff game convincingly Washington not so much
Ohio State wins first championship, Michigan State not so much
Florida State blown out in playoff Clemson multiple NC

I was at that one. We've had a few decent wins at home and a few bowl wins in the last couple decades and that's about where it ends. but 2016 is a great example of things the crush us. The only reason Penn State goes to the B10 title game that year is because of that 4th down call in OT in the Mich vs OSU game. Whether you think it was right or not, it's really just a coin flip with refs these days. It goes against us and sends Penn State leaping forward. And then in an ultimate twist of fate, we're constantly reminded of Franklin's B10 title game appearance compared to Harbaugh's goose egg.

And your loss to Michigan State in 2015 kept Ohio State out of the CCG, you have that going for you.

The committee is obviously putting weight to it along with an eye test. Alabama getting making it in 2017 is an example. They didn’t even play in the conference championships that year. It’s has also shown up when teams have gotten left out.

So yeah the committee is looking at conference strength and past performance. They aren’t designating a metric to it but there is zero doubt they taking it into consideration.

They are also evidently taking into consideration ratings and I think that is what is hurting Cincinnati right now. They won’t admit it but it’s there.

Do they control it or do they let it play out? Name a year where they got it "wrong". There might have been one year, there was debate between two teams but other than that...yes, like I said the rankings aren't perfect at the beginning but it sorts itself out and that is bc teams control how they play on the field. So no, teams control their destiny.

Teams like Cincy don't though. Does it take one year of Cincy sliding in and getting their ass handed to for people to realize they don't belong. They need to get in a P5 conference or further more in a top conference. Not likely so if they don't do that they need to load up on big non-conference games. They did play ND and that is just bad luck the way it played out but they need more than one non-conference big game if they want a chance. That's just the way it works.
What difference does that make? We have multiple examples of P5 teams that were selected to participate in the CFP and got "their asses handed to" them....including your Buckeyes 31-0 loss to Clem in 2016!

In fact, it is easier to find semifinal participants that have had their asses handed to them than haven't. Only semifinal games that were really close were Bama/Ohio State in 2014, OU/Georgia 2017, and Clemson/Ohio State in 2019.

Just swap the names on Alabama and Oklahoma and they switch places in the rankings.

Just put Clemson's name on Wake's (8-0) schedule and they'd be Top 4 without debate. Since they were #3 (AP) and #2 (Coaches) in pre-season, they'd never left the Top 4.

You have the year where they dropped a team from 3 to 6 after a blowout win in order to let one of the chosen teams into the playoffs. If you aren’t one of the chosen teams, you have only one option, undefeated or you are out of the playoffs. Lose once and get fucked.
But it worked out, right?

putting Alabama in in 2017 wasnt about the SEC as much as it was the names Alabama and Saban. prior 2 years of Champion and runner up

Exactly, there are usually only two teams every year maybe even one that is unanimously the best...not much parity but it seems like this year we could...or UGA crushes everyone. Last year Bama and Ohio St rolled then Ohio St covid and everything probably still would have been crushed if healthy.
So I'm not sure why people are complaining about the rankings especially in the first week. If UGA and Ohio St played today, Ohio St would get skulldragged
