When I was a kid, Jim Donnan was UGA’s coach and Tech had the upper hand in the rivalry, there were a bunch of Tech fans and Tech actually had HFA at Bobby Dodd. It was the most anticipated game of the year in the state.

Now Tech hasn’t beat UGA in Atlanta since the Clinton administration, Tech fans are getting hard to find and it’s a home game for UGA no matter where the game is played.

It’s got to the point now where I don’t really even consider Tech to be a rival anymore. It’s been relegated to a Conference network going head to head with Ohio State-Michigan most years.

Most of the Tech fans you do see around are old and they hold a huge grudge against Bama.

I don’t want Tech to get good enough to beat UGA regularly, but it’s better for both programs and the state as a whole of Tech could at least get back to being a solid team again. They’re likely staring at a 3-9 season is a very weak ACC Coastal

yes, GT will win this Saturday and that will kick off a decade of nerd dominance over the Bulldogs

prepare your anus, chewy

Missouri opened as a bigger underdog than Tech against us. It could happen

Had no idea this was even that big a rivalry that the word "hate" is involved because of how lopsided its been.

I should say for awhile didn't know that is. Obviously known about this rivalry for years now.

GT has the most recent FBS natty in the state, but for the most part they haven't been the same since they left the SEC in the 1960s

They had some really good teams in the late 80's/early 90's, including that one that won half a Natty. I'm not sure if they stopped recruiting the Atlanta-area kids, that's where a lot of good in-state talent lives

They were getting a lot of NFL talent under Chan Gailey in the early 2000’s, they were solid but not great as a program, but when Paul Johnson took over, recruiting wasn’t a priority at all, and really and truly he had a pretty good run at Tech, but at the same time a team located in Atlanta shouldn’t be running the triple option. Geoff Collins talked a big game, but he’s been all bark with no bite and his team has regressed in year 3 when this should be the year to start seeing real improvement

“To hell with Georgia” is in the GT fight song(which if I’m being honest, is one of the better fight songs in the country)

But it needs to get back to the level of hate when UGA players got back from Europe after WW1 and had a parade float with a banner basically calling GT cowards for being able to field a team during the war.

GT needs to go back to Ramblin' Wrecks first

Chan Gailey had some good recruiting classes in the early-mid 2000s, but he couldn't coach a lick so they only won 7-8 games each year

the TO was horrible for their recruiting. Collins has had mixed results on the recruiting trail. 27 in 2020, 48 in 2021, 22 this year. This was always going to be 3-5 year turnaround job due to the transition from the TO, but this year has shown some things I would be concerned about. A loss to Northern Illinois and getting embarrassed by Notre Dame.

Collins' has been trying to emphasize that GT is in Atlanta on the recruiting trail. i also think a piece of their uniform or helmet says "ATL" on it

Tech’s boosters also kinda suck. They don’t want academic standards lowered for athletes and that limits their options when it comes to recruiting. And I think they’re still paying like 3 basketball coaches. They’re gonna be stuck with Collins for a while

Why is Mizzou in the SEC?

Why did the SEC even want Mizzou?

there is no way they are still paying for Paul Hewitt. Hewitt was fired ten years ago

Collins has not delivered where he should. 4 wins was a reasonable expectation when we have 3 wins for his first two years.

The D looks incredibly clueless. Worst D I have ever seen yet that is supposed to be Collins wheelhouse. And the O can't do anything against a D with a pulse.

Deeper than that, though. The team starts out a game with a delay of game also, false start, a timeout. The clock management is incredibly inept. We go for it on 4th on a read option up the middle from shotgun when the opposing D has been stuffing it all game long.

Collinsbis in over his head. He was a snakeoil salesman that appealed to the powers that be at the school that wanted to move back to a traditional offense. I bought it too, but time has revealed the fraud.

We should have hired Monken.

COFH will not be competitive while Collins is here. Forget about it, he is inept and looks like a clown.

They’re in the SEC because the B1G didn’t want them. Heard some rumors about them leaving to the B1G when Texas and Oklahoma come over. I don’t think they’d be missed too much and the B1G makes more geographical sense for them

Yeah I think maybe the previous basketball coach the only one that I can think we are still paying right now. His name escapes me. Hewitt was paid off some time back.

They were still paying him at the time they hired their current coach. Debt might be paid off to him by now
