Who Does Oklahoma talk to, throw a name in the hat.

All of the Tennessee message boards are all worried about Heupel going to Oklahoma. I haven't heard anything concrete about it. I imagine he probably is on the list but not at the top of the list. I think OU wants a coach with more experience.

Mark Stoops is another name being thrown out.

Here is the thing, I don't think that coaches hold grudges against schools/fans. They probably hold grudges against the Administration that treated them bad. So if it is the same AD, your point is valid. If it is a different AD and administration, I think it could be a different story.

I will say this, I think Huepel is enjoying Tennessee and I think it is unlikely he leaves this season. I think he could be a potential future candidate at OU if the new coach doesn't work out and he continues to have success.

They did. Bitter as F about Bob Stoops finally running him off when (Gasp!) everyone had figured out his offense and we couldn't score any points. He didn't make it back to the 2000 team reunion celebrating the NC. His "other obligations" got in the way.

Being the leading candidate a school wants is different from actually taking the job.

Not saying he won't leave, but the two are distinctly different.

Venables has been a "leading candidate" many times.
 
What's with these phone calls and texts I'm getting about Luke Fickell? Oh yea, that's the guy I want to lead OU into the SEC and hold together our recruiting classes. Mr. Flavor Of the Month. This better be just another rumor that's driving all of us crazy. Luke Fickell. With our luck he'll be the new hire and then take his Cincinnati Bearcats into the Playoff where they promptly get a 50 point beatdown by Georgia. Say it ain't so, Joe. :tsk:

Losing recruits is bad, losing an over hyped back up quarterback isn’t a sign for concern.

Could be. I'm hearing his name mentioned a lot. Just wish I believed he has the horsepower to win in the SEC. Nice guy. The OU locker room liked him. But............damn, man. Shane Beamer head football coach at Oklahoma in the SEC? Talk about a heaving crapshoot.

SCar over performed this year under Beamer. Winning 6 games with a 3 win roster isn’t easy
