Roster talent wise, they had no business beating Florida or Auburn. Florida and Auburn vastly underperformed this season, but they should have been able to easy beat SCar on talent alone
 
If we have to start all over with the recruiting, OU needs to get a HC who is a PROVEN meat eater on Defense. When we go to war in the SEC, I want our D hard as hell to score on. OU can always go hire a gunslinger as Offensive coordinator who can recruit enough talent to play winning ball on that side of the line. But D? If everything has just burned to the ground in Norman, it's imperative that OU stop putting all its chips on trying to outscore people by putting up 50 points. "Paging Brent Venables. This is my thinking.
But it seems like Venables would have already made a head coaching move, if that's what he wanted to do.

This is probably the best time for OU to have this issue. It gives time for the new coach to build an SEC-type team, which Riley obviously was loathe to do.

No, losing Rattler is not implosion. Losing a guy who has been injured all year and a total of of 6 touchdowns in two seasons averaging 2.5 receptions a game is not a sign of implosion.
