Lincoln Riley is a dumbass

Using this logic, Vanderbilt should dominate the SEC because they are in Nashville which is one of the major recording capitols in the globe for music along with Atlanta and Los Angeles. Oh, Georgia Tech should be a power as well. Fans buy products and you need them to sale.

Do you know how many people go to Hollywood (or even Nashville) trying to hit the big time? You guys think that just because USC is next to Hollywood, all of these opportunities would just open up for them.

Sure it worked for Reggie Bush but he was Reggie Bush. Not everyone gets to that level.
You just love a rabbit hole, don't you?

Seriously, just because it pops into your head doesn't mean you have to post it. You're not even on the same planet with that comment.

The whole debate here is which program has the best chance right now for NIL, Oklahoma or USC (I could also add in LSU since it was an option but let's just stay with these two to keep it simple).

Oklahoma is a consistent 10 win team that is about to join the SEC. Sure it is harder to win in the SEC (how much harder is debatable) but you get more primetime matchups on television and exposure in the SEC. That isn't debatable.

You would get exposure at USC, I am not denying that at all. However is it that much better than Oklahoma? I don't think so. Even with the so-called opportunity. If USC was 10-2 and ranked in top 10 and Oklahoma was struggling at 7-5 or 8-4 right now, I would be singing a totally different tune.

Also, you still haven't acknowledge my main point which is the main topic, the fanbase. Oklahoma just has a larger fanbase. The CFB fanbase is the customer base. You license to them, you make products for them. This is why ESPN now slobbers all over the SEC because they know the $$$ is there.
Actually, that isn't the debate but you can't get past it anyway.

Less country music videos are filmed in Nashville than you think.

I want to say good post. You are now in a good discussion with me.

My entire point is just because a city has a lot of people and is an entertainment center, doesn't necessarily mean it the entertainment is geared towards College Football.

If you are a player that wants to be an actor, sure USC looks enticing. If you are a player that wants to go to the NFL, then Oklahoma is on the same page, if not better right now due to state of program, than USC.

If you are a good enough player and you got charisma, you can make it big even if you were in Boise, Idaho.

Keep in mind that Garth Books had his start in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

See this is where you go off track. This post adds nothing of value to the discussion. You guys call me 12? Look at this post. It is written by a juvenile wanting attention.

Holy shit progress!

Now take high profile players out of the mix and think about trench players and special teams players that you need to be successful. Are you going to have more opportunities for these guys to do signings at the mall, local appearances and such in LA or Norman?

Stay with me because you are soooooo close.
You really like a challenge, dont you?

I wish Hollywood would stay in Hollywood. I swear you can’t got to Atlanta anymore without being held up by some movie or tv show being filmed, and a lot of them end up here in the boonies to film. Tom Cruise being in my hometown just pisses me off. It was a movie about a plane crash in Arkansas, go film it in Arkansas

Holy shit you are dumb as fuck. You think there is same money in Oklahoma, as there is California? You think its only nation wide "sponsors" offering money to kids, and the same ones in Oklahoma, as in LA, or NY, or Miami, or Dallas, or name 15 more cities with obvious more money to throw around at kids to promote businesses locally?

You dont think there is a difference, or you just HATE California so much, that you will create straw man after straw man, to make yourself believe its the same everywhere?

Nevermind, dont answer that.

1. Do you think endorsements coming to support the Oklahoma Sooners are limited to just companies in Oklahoma? Hell, Oklahoma probably has more of a presence in Texas than it does in Oklahoma
2. Los Angeles is NOT a college football city, if they were, USC would be dominating the stats right now in profitability and the Pac12 network would be on the same level as the B1G and the SEC. There are over 50 million people just in California so why is the Pac12 an after thought in TV deals if LA is such a great CFB market or such a great opportunity? Apparently it isn't value as highly by the marketing firms as people on this thread are valuing it.

I think that has somewhat changed with the Rams coming back. They gobbled up a lot of the football interest that USC got, particularly since they’ve been pretty good for the last few years (other than when they play the 49ers). The Chargers didn’t move the needle.

NFL has always been bigger in California over College. This hurts the Pac12.

I mean if this opportunity is so great in LA that everyone is putting up in this thread, you would think the Pac12 tv deals would be threw the roof.

If you are going to post this then do yourself a favor and proofread.

lol.. i think lincoln is an idiot too but using his decision to go to LA over staying in Norman or settling down in Baton Rouge, isn't one of them. Y'all really going to shit on living in LA? He's going to be making around 10 mil a year, I don't think he'll be struggling to "get by" even with the tax rate. Plus I'm sure he saved a lot of money during his time at ou.

Y'all give in way too much into politics too, SC is still one of the top jobs. They have no rival in recruiting out west, and face it, he has less obstacles (on paper) in competing for the PAC crown.. (despite the current golden era of Oregon dominance lol)

They are ranked 67 in the recruit rankings before this move, interested in seeing how much they improve per the rankings by NSD1, then NSD2.

The PAC TV issues have to do with the following:

1. Timezone issues which are huge
2. Rarely more than one team in the mix (when USC is good they drive ratings)
3. Horrendous conference leadership and missed opportunity on the PAC channel

There is a ton of meat on the bone with their deals and they will do better next go around they just need their big dogs to step up and be good again. If Washington, Oregon, and USC are all solid teams their ratings would improve substantially. They also do extremely well with cross-over conference games. Anytime they play SEC or B1G teams the ratings go up so there is interest.

They aren't going to ever beat the SEC or B1G deals but they should have bigger contracts than the ACC (since they are under contract until 2036) or the new Big 12. However, it doesn't matter because the draw of USC is really all that matters for this discussion.

Great hire for you guys. Best you could possibly do. Likely see a Clemsonization of the PAC with USC winning every year and everyone else sucking. But, he better learn to put a D on the field. For all that Riley has done well, he still hasn't won shit. Let's not forget that.

Oregon is building back up under Cristobal, so they likely stay in the hunt. They were quietly building themselves up during the Pete Carroll era, but no one really caught on to it because USC was so big. Then, with USC out of the way, they have done the

Washington could get back in the mix to if they can get the right coach hired.

Agree re: defense. I think he is bringing his DC with him, which may not be such a good thing. He's going to have to have at least a solid defense if he wants to have a real shot at an NC instead of just making the cfp and getting crushed in the first round.

I think you highly understand Oklahoma as a brand because they are in the town of Norman.

Heck, the most iconic brand in all of College Football is Notre Dame and they are no where near a major city. Sure, Notre Dame, isn't what it once was but for decades, it was the center of college football from a media stand point.
Notre Dame gas skyways been THE school for all of America’s Catholics. Dude.
