Not really because they don't have USC's marketing power. The major networks (the one televising games and paying the big money) disagree with you. No offense, but I'm going to go with what they're saying. Also, who does Oklahoma have besides Texas who has been down for years? USC has Oregon, Notre Dame and has never shied away from playing top schools OOC.
Just with Oregon and Notre Dame, that's more than Oklahoma. Oklahoma doesn't even have Nebraska anymore.
Actually, USC didn't HAVE to travel, they chose to travel because Pete Carroll was smart enough to know that if you traveled into another teams territory, beat them and looked like you were having fun doing it...you could then come back in the off season and recruit there. Under Pete Carroll, USC was getting players that normally would have gone to the SEC, or Texas/Oklahoma/Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn St. etc. that's why they travelled. They were poaching.
And? All of that is/was a result of the winning that was done when they played there. If USC gets back to winning like that, current players will those same opportunities and likely even more because they have NIL now.
