No doubt. We haven't even made the cfp, so just getting there and getting smoked would be good enough for right now. But that would only be okay for a season or 2. After that, he'd be expected to start advancing and win it every now and then.

Agree 100%. Looking at USC's roster...as far as skill players, we can hang with anyone in the country.

But when it comes to size and power and looking at the SEC teams that we'd eventually have to beat to win an NC...I'm reminded of what John Robinson said in the first season of his 2nd stint at USC after getting beaten pretty soundly by a bigger, faster Notre Dame..."We need to get some guys like that". lol

People can say its a pussy move all they want, but its just a smart business decision. There's going to be 16 teams in the SEC. Nearly half of which expect to be fighting for natties each year. Which is just unrealistic and leaves half of those coaches on the hot seat after just 2-3 years in. Whereas the Pac has really just the 2.

And once a guy has "gotten his money bag full enough", even less money for better working conditions is a great trade off. (Assuming he didn't have a bunch of holes in his money bag.)

Been several guys here in the oil patch that took gigs in Prudhoe Bay, Sakhalin Island, Middle East such places that did just that. One single guy worked six years straight beginning at age 26 and retired at 32. Didn't spend any of his leave money or travel money to come home for six years. Hasn't had to work a day since then and won't have to until he dies. We ask him once how he did it. He said he conditioned himself into thinking he was going to prison for six years before he left. His momma still hasn't forgiven him.
