He’s the best DC UGA has had in a while and he was a beast of a recruiter when he was still just a linebacker coach and still is. You never know how a coordinator will handle their first HC job, but he’s definitely earned a shot at one.

Sorry for being honest. There are about 5 guys who are slam dunk hires in this game and one of them just walked out the door. Your fan base really showed its ass with how they treated your former starting QB and HC. Everyone worth a shit is going to get paid to stay where they are so you guys are going to have to reach for someone and hope it works out. Your incoming class is fucked as is your next one. It's highly likely you don't have a scholarship quarterback for your bowl game and pretty much all of your skill position talent is in the portal right now.

That's a dead man walking situation for the next coach there. Moving to the SEC makes it worse. Playoff expansion doesn't matter to you guys right now because it's going to be a decade before you sniff the top 12. And you know it.

There are only three people who know the total story about OU's search right now: President Harroz, Joe Castiglione and Bob Stoops. Little bits and pieces come out (it's inevitable) but I'd hesitate to place a bet on anyone. Dan Lanning's name has perked up in the last couple of days. I have a hunch who is still strongly in the running but it's only that.....a hunch. I don't think Aranda is completely out of the picture yet. Venables is the easy pick but that obviously hasn't happened and you'd think it would be him by now if he was The One. The only information I'm confident in is the talk about how OU is concerned about getting someone into the program who can also coach up the O. If that isn't the HC (because he's a defensive guy), they need to be confident an O coordinator is identified now to save the existing roster and help recruiting.
