Who Does Oklahoma talk to, throw a name in the hat.

Venables is kind of the safe play. Stoops disciple, history with the program. He will shake all the right hands and kiss the right rings.

No head coach XP tho. That's a pretty major detracting factor when you consider candidates for a system that is supposed to compete for national titles every year.

I think Oklahoma might be too big of a job for a young guy’s first HC job, but I’d be surprised if he isn’t a HC somewhere next season. He’s the best DC UGA has had in a real long time, and he’s been grooming Glenn Schumann to be his replacement at DC
Seems like good OCs are a lot more plentiful than good DCs. So a defensive minded HC might more easily find a good OC than the other way around. As long as a defensive minded HC doesn't get too stubborn about more "open" offenses, it just might be the way to go.

I think we're at the point where different camps want different guys and you'll hear shit for days.

I'm thinking we are waiting for this weekend to pass.

Everything is dark, nobody saying much. Probably means not much is getting out.

I think you guys should offer Saban 20 million a year just to make Bama match it and bankrupt their program.

If you wish him well then you wouldn’t want him to go to Akron.

If he is able to make the Zips relevant, all the better for him. He has handled himself well while at Oregon.

I've heard stuff today from people about Brent Venables (Clemson D Coordinator) is interested in taking the head coaching job at OU. But there is concern about the offense. Word is they have discussed pairing him with Jeff Lebby (Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at Ole Miss under Lane Kiffin) who would become Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. Who knows? I never even thought about doing something like this until it was mentioned but that would be pulling two white rabbits out of a black hat.

What have you heard about Dan Lanning

Hell, OU don't even have to make the offer ... just have someone send Sexton a memo asking what if that rumor had started making rounds.

so no, he doesn't know anything. Probably just thinks BV to OU is the most likely scenario
