Another oddity in all of this is that Luke Fickell appears to have gotten a G5 school into the GD playoff and he's still at Cincy. Oregon should be air bombing him with crates of cash right now.

He might be a Bobby Bowden, though. He wants to build it and own it forever

I don't think he wants to leave Ohio. He was born there, lives there, played at Ohio St, GA at Ohio St, DL coach at Akron, then spent the next 15 years as an assistant at Ohio St, now HC at Cincy.

He probably doesn't want to leave and is probably waiting for another chance at Ohio St.

Dabo should look at Diaz for DC to replace Venable. I have a lot of respect for Manny as he put up some good defenses at Miss State and got it down with lesser talent.

Was just texting some buddies about that too. But apparently Dabo has a short list of coaches he has to fill coordinator roles in this situation and its just a matter of putting that train in motion. And my guess is HC at big schools wouldn't be on that list.

And in the end, I think it'll just be an in-house promotion.
