I don't know...my haircut costs $20 and it is quick and what I want done by a girl who knows what I want...

what do I get for a $50 haircut that is better than that?

i got a local barber, one man shop. When covid hit he was forced to switching to appointments only, and he plans to keep it that way.
 
My grandpa went to same barber for years, in about the 80's the barber set his rate at $6.00 a haircut, but was never posted

My grandpa paid $6/haircut for next 30 years. Guy raised his rates several times, but never told my grandpa so he just paid what he always did

and didn't tip

He did buy his barber a christmas gift each year, usually a bottle of booze

I have a Christmas gathering with friends this weekend and my White Elephant gift very likely ain't gonna get here in time...

might turn into a nice bottle of wine for the present

Yeah, this place too. Usually I make an on-line appt then jump in the car, it's usually only a few minutes after I get there.

Last couple of times, it's been almost two hours.

I've cut my own hair every 10 days or so for near a decade with one of these Conair things. There are 4 length settings. I've found setting 2 to work best for my bean.

Just put a towel down on the bathroom floor to catch the trimmings, take it outside shake it, and toss it in the laundry basket.
You get another implement to trim around your ears and crop the back of your neck.

I'm on my 2nd one now for 3 years or so.
