DIY Monster Fish Tank

And you would be correct kind friend! I did the leak test on Wednesday and at about 2/3 full I noticed a tiny leak at about the half full point. I wasn't ready with a siphon hose either and it was such a slow leak, I just let it leak itself out down to the halfway point. I blew a big fan on the floor and I also run a dehumidifier 24/7 so most of the leaked out water has already evaporated. I just got it drained today.

This pic is during the fill.

And this pic is from today when I started draining the tank.

I had a bowfront 140 gallon for almost 20 years. So, call me out for any questions. I had it down to a science and there was almost no work involved. Plenty of sand and a proper salt level keeps the PH right and the rest is as easy.

All my fish died when Hurricane Irma knocked the power out for 6 days...poor babies got too hot and all croaked. It smelled much like @TigerBait1971 fist after pleasuring his ol lady. My red hawkfish was over a decade old...some others almost as old. It was such a bummer, I gave the tank to the Shell Museum on Sanibel.

Thanks JTG, that is super nice of you! It's just going to be a fresh water setup, much less complicated than a salt water tank. But absolutely, whenever I can get helpful advice it's a good thing. Thanks again, friend!
Well, my initial advice is to do a salt tank instead! It's easier because you don't have to obsess about PH all the time - the salt and sand and drop tank do the job.
Besides, freshwater fish be ugly. You could have coral and cool shit....

It sure is true that salt water fish are stunningly beautiful compared to most fresh water fish.

Well the tank has been emptied for several days now and I left a fan blowing inside of it to help dry things and I think I'm going to go ahead and try to flip this big box on its front side. I will use the car jack again to get it tipping and then I hope I can pull it on over.

And then I can put another bead of silicone around the glass edges. If I can get that done today I will be able to do Leak Test #2 on Saturday.

At this moment, Baby Monster is filled and holding steady!

The fill for the leak test #2 started at 4:28 PM and was full at 4:55 PM eastern. About 280 gallons in less than a half hour, I'm not sure but I believe that is some high water pressure for a residential property.

Enjoy the pics, my friends! I'm just about ready to start a new hobby! But I still have to build a hood for Baby Monster, he so handsome!

When I got up this morning I went straight downstairs to the basement before I even had coffee.

And the floor was completely... DRY! After 12+ hours no leaks.
Good stuff!
