Have to cancel our Christmas Eve party.

how much caution, though? And how much do you trust the people you are around not to be polluting an entire crowd with COVID?

I think reason and logic are needed, but there are some who are just throwing it right out the window....and that goes for both directions.

too cautious and not cautious enough
If you have been exposed to the flu, you are not welcome in my house. I don't expose myself to people that are high risk. But, see, that is just me.

The best way to not be a spreader is to keep yourself from getting it, flu or COVID.

I also believe that the best birth control is abstinence.

The main point is that everyone has different risk tolerance and I don't believe it is right to judge them for it.

so if someone is around you and doesn't know or doesn't tell you they were exposed to the flu or COVID, what can you do?

I get that you just can't lock yourself in a room your entire life because of fear of getting one or the other, but there is still a certain level of caution you can take to keep yourself from getting it or spreading it.

do you think everyone is being that responsible?

and birth control takes a little more effort...like you having sex. There is an active part involved with that while catching COVID or the flu from someone else just takes being around someone with it.

As to your last statement, I really don't care. I can only be responsible for my own actions.

You cannot force someone to meet your level of responsibility.

Exactly. The only thing I’m still debating is whether they should have had better solutions for what social media was becoming….or if there are even solutions.
IMHO social media was not the problem at all, attempting to totally control a narrative full of unknowns from a position of absolute knowledge/wisdom/authority was.

I agree, you can only be responsible for your own actions.

but yes, you can force someone to a certain level of responsibility, like stores requiring mask wearing while shopping. They are private businesses and can enforce whatever they want to enforce in their space.

That is the store reaching their level of responsibility. No problem. And they aren't forcing anyone to come to a level of responsibility.

It is saying that you can stay home or whatever. You just can't do it here.

Masks are optional at the stores in this area.

the store is saying if you want to be in that enclosed space with other people, they are saying you have to wear a mask.

that is 100% making someone more responsible.

No, it is offering a choice, not making the choice for you.

Virtue signal more than anything. Masks are not effective.

Same here and that is the point of contention between me and my SIL. IF a store requires or even has a sign recommending masks then I will wear one, with the exception of a pharmacy in which I always mask up. My point is that when I go to a store, it is at opening time. IMHO going then unmasked is far safer than going midafternoon wearing a mask.

they are

please stop believing that they aren't effective. It is incorrect. I am so tired to this discussion.

and how the fuck is it "virtue signalling"?

What would happen if everyone made the same decision?
