It's Friday, you ain't got no job, and you ain't got shit to do...

$30k is so much fucking money! It's like you have been paying a subscription fee to have a career for the last however many years.
Shit....and that was after about 15 years of paying on them. Mr. Kobe's, if we are able to swing this $100k, will be about 12 years of paying.

Then, you can switch those payments into the kids college funds.

Utterly insane.

The whole system is fucked.

And I do agree that if the loans were available like that, college would be more affordable

Interesting take...

But also college these days is like living at a country club. Campuses are ridiculous
Yeah, it wouldn't be like that if the banks weren't bleeding folks dry.

"Interesting take" sounds like you're not buying it. Take a look at when student loans really started taking off, and then cross reference that with college tuitions.

Anyone do Acorns?

Hopefully she isn't paying both at the same time.

No, I'm aligned. I just never thought about the chicken or the egg view of it. It is interesting 🤔

My parents didn't have the option of helping back then. They were broke back then. We don't intend to pay for all of our kid's school, but we do have an amount we put into a 529 for each of them each year. Seed money, if you will.

I get ya. I got aid because of low income family and academic prowess. Illinois has a great program for top students and hopefully 4 of my grandkids will get that. That will take the pressure off paying for the other 3 possibles.

That's another thing about when I went to college

I remember my parents moving money around to try to hide it from schools to get that aid.

Felt like Tony Soprano hiding cash in the heating duct in our house for a few months

Lucky. My parents didn't have money to hide. I was the oldest of 5. They still had kids to raise. If I was going to college it was on me.

I'm talking modest amounts here, but still

There are tricks that must be done

My grandfather paid for my undergrad (he had moved in with my parents and this was his way of repaying them). I got a scholarship and student loans for law school.
