Welcome to the Air Raid era SEC

Oklahoma is the only B12 team to do it and they haven't gotten past the first round.

Yes you beat Auburn when our QB broke his arm on the first series, we had no back up and our only running back was at 70%. I was at the game and once our QB went out you could see the wind go out out of the team. Look nice win by OU but that Auburn team was broken.
Yeah that sucks about your QB but unfortunately he didn't play defense and he missed the previous two games to so its not like the backup was cold.

Mayfield to Westbrook, two Heisman finalists that year

Joe Mixon 91rush, 89 receiving, 2 TDs

Perine broke all time OU rushing record that game.

Yes, your offense was hurt but your defense who wasn't hurt got beat and couldn't stop OU.

Our defense couldn't get off the field because we couldn't get a first down. They lost all heart.

The QB backup literally moved to wide receiver and transferred to FAU.

Look if you want to brag about that win go for it but the game was over after the first drive. In the stands we all knew it.

I posted something similar in the game thread, but this is the most talented roster that Mike Leach has ever had, I didn't envy LSU for being the first team to have to play them. I think we all expected regression from LSU this season too. Miss State will pull some upsets and probably lose a couple games they shouldn't.
Have to disagree 50% Chewy. This is by far most talented defensive roster Leach has ever had and it is not even close.

He's had good offensive talent...including lineman...at Texas Tech and WSU though many never realized it. IIRC, two of the five that protected Payton during his stint in Denver were Red Faders.

I see it being just like always for Mike Leach. He will be a pain in everyones ass, and have success, just not too much success.

That 2008 Texas Tech team was probably the apex of his career. If he can carry that to the SEC that'll be fun to watch.
The 2017 Washington State was more talented than 08 Texas Tech.

Drink much that game? 11 of your 22 first downs came in the 1st half and you went into halftime down 13-14.

You had only 2 punts in that first half and your starting QB, White, was under center for both those drives.

I'm not trying to argue but you seem full of incorrect excuses.

But are Tennessee fans kicking themselves for protesting the potential Leach hire?

Dude we held you scoreless the first quarter and we’re hanging in the game but the loss of our QB and the abuse it put on our lone RB took their toll and we couldn’t get hardly anything done. Like I said good win for you guys but let’s not pretend you got Auburn’s best that day and you guys weren’t at full strength.

This was Gus’ fault we should have both a backup QB and running back depth. Twice we have very promising seasons under Gus that just nose dived because we didn’t have the depth to make it through the season. This might be a 3rd if the O-Line takes too many hits because it’s as thin as it gets. It gets really old to watch teams fall apart due to injury.

It is what it is and you guys deserve the win but your not doing yourselves any favors by assuming that game was some sort of Litmus test. It wasn’t...it was an Auburn shit show.

I actually met Gus in OKC when OU beat Auburn for the softball national title. Nice guy but he sure has a lot of energy.

? Everyone at Tennessee wanted Leach that I talked to.

LSU is the first defending champion to lose its debut since Michigan in 1998. :dhd:
I feel like every terrible record starts with "X team is the first to lose since Michigan in X year"

He had good players on offense for sure, but as far as recruit rankings, MSU has more blue chip recruits than he had at either stop, they’ve been grossly mishandled since Mullen left for Florida, and MSU is still behind most other SEC West teams recruiting wise, Leach gives them a legit shot against everyone they play

After a sobering sunday.. I'm worried that Chris Ash and his 4 over 3 press quarters defense is going to be all wrong for the air raid teams he faces in the Big 12. Air Raids seem to tear apart those types of defenses time and time again.. Baylor vs Michigan St in a bowl game several years ago.. Narduzzi vs oklahoma st in Pittsburgh, hell even Kliff got the best of Saban in his one season with JFF. TCU did the same vs the landsharks too.. Air Raids make good defenses look lackluster..

The one offense I know that will get scrapped after next November will be Arkansas.. Baby Briles isn't his daddy when it comes to running his Veer and SHoot offense.

I know that ou is like 0-4 in the CFP, but they did put a show vs GA, shame that Lincoln tried to go conservative in the 2nd half. Kyler, as usual, imploded coming out the gates and it was over after the 1st qtr despite him playing well the rest of the game. But had ou been in the SEC playing week to week, they would have beaten a lot of teams despite it's horrendous defense.

It sucks when you have really good QB play week to week.. offenses travel during the regular season.. when you have a few weeks to prepare, it's a different story. But I'm looking forward to it.. Instead of just jotting down a dub when you see MSU or Ole Miss, you now know you better be on your p's and q's.

A quote from Bob Stoops comes to mind (in reverse) when I think of the possibility of Leach with a good defense. Years ago Stoops said something like "Witht the athletes LSU has, Lord help us all if LSU ever embraces the forward pass". Not exact quote but close. That came to fruition last year. IMO the same could be said for Leach on the other side. And it doesn't even have to to a great defense. LSU's defense was good enough last year. And it may have been better than stats indicate because the offense scored so quicly the defense was on the field a hell of a lot more than they were used to being.

LSU’s defense got better as the year went on, I’m too young to remember 95 Nebraska, so last year’s LSU team is the best team I’ve ever seen play.

We got our asses kicked in the SECCCG by them last year, and we were a pretty damn good team, but all I could do was tip my cap, we didn’t stand a chance

Think everyone said that in one form or another. LSU would get good QBs and skill players then pull a Kirby Smart on them, just never made sense. I thought when aggy came in and had success with JFF and Kingsbury, it would have changed, but no.. took another 7 seasons for LSU to finally get it right.. and then they replace the man with Ersminger or whatever his name is and the ex NFL coach lol..

They played crippled in Austin.. Texas needed to return the favor this year smh.
