Like to get your take on “conferences” eric. Most of the year I thought the SEC and the Big 12 were the best conferences. Now I’m thinking they are just deep conferences…but not really as good as I originally thought!

The Big 12 is the best conference IMO. I actually think the gap between 1 and 2 is larger than 2 and 3. The SEC, B10 and Big East are all very comparable IMO. B10 and SEC have more depth, but they also have 3 more teams, so there's that. The Big 12 was ridiculously good OOC. 8 of 10 schools are in the top 50 of the NET, and everyone is in the top 80. It has depth throughout, and has elite(1 seeds, 2 seeds, 3 seeds) teams as well. And I use elite in the context of this season. This Baylor team isn't as good as last year's was, but in the context of the season, they are definitely a top 5 team, same with Kansas IMO, whether that translates to the NCAA tournament is TBD.
I think there is something to be said about beating teams up. Someone has to finish last in a conference. WVU beats UConn and UAB in OOC. Both Q1 wins. ISU beat Creighton, Iowa, Xavier and Memphis OOC. All Q1 wins. OU beat UCF, UF and Arkansas OOC. These are all teams that finished in the bottom half of the league. Stuff that is done early in the season, really shapes conference play. Every game is practically a Q1/Q2 game, that can't be said in the other conferences.
I think part of your issue might be is that every team has flaws. Even Gonzaga. Baylor taking a couple losses here shouldn't negate what they've accomplished this season. If healthy, they are still a legit title contender, in the context of this season. As is Auburn, even though they haven't looked the part lately.
With that said, this could be a pretty crazy tournament because the top teams are all flawed. If I was picking a team, as of now, to win it all, I think I'd lean Kentucky because of their guard play. But I don't think they'll get a 1 seed, even if they win the SECT Because the accomplishments aren't there throughout the course of the season.

Hell, I should read it all…I’m the one that asked you! Your view is always data based and objective. I guess I’ve watched TOO much SEC and Big 12 games and began to nitpick their flaws.

Where do you see Iowa at right now @ericd7633 ? Bracket matrix has them as a 6 but theyve got the metrics of a 4 and the rrsume of a 7/8
I could legit see anything between a 4 and a 7

I think Iowa's ceiling is probably a 5 seed(even though the way they are playing you could put them on the 3/4 line). If you look at some of the other teams on projected 4 line(Illinois, UCLA, Providence), I don't think they can catch up to them, even winning the Big 10 tournament. They just lack the overall winning % of some of the other teams on the projected 4 line. I think at the end of the day, their Q1 record is what's going to keep them from getting a 4.
I'll start putting together my bracketology today through tomorrow and see where they come in at, but having reviewed the teams they are around, I think they will be a 5. Honestly, probably the highest 5, so 17 on the S Curve.

I would say they're stuck on the 6 unless they can win the tournament .
And then theyll be a 5.
Maybe a high 5 if they can beat Purdue in the process, but the 4 line is too good to pass.

It's really been 3 years since we will (hopefuly) have a normal tourney. Crazy.
I think it will be an average tournament. Not upset or top heavy.
The Top 14 or so is pretty solid.

I know. These conference tournaments have been awesome, because it's been normal for the first time since 2019. Can't wait for the NCAA tournament to feel the same.
I think the 5-7 seeds are actually pretty strong this year when you look at some of the teams projected to be there. So there may not be alot of upsets in the first round, but I can see a 5-7 making the E8 or FF this season.

Xavier has no business being in the tournament. They've sucked basically since the calendar switched over to 2022. Especially considering you've got a super awesome totally amazing team like VT looking real good. And I guess aTm is playing well too. Kick out Xavier and Wyoming and put those two teams in. And Juwan Howard is an ass so toss them out too and give it to Wake
