It isn't that OSU saps up the energy -- they have, by far, the richest area in the B1G for recruiting and like Georgia, they are the only P5 school in state. So they get to the pick of the litter.I hate to agree with you because I think there is some trolling effort against Nebraska but the B1G tends to struggle to produce great title contenders. All of the energy seems to be sapped up by Ohio State.
I think it is easier for Nebraska to win 9-10 games and finish in top 15 than Tennessee but will be harder to win a title.
To put it in perspective how absurd the skill position talent is -- this was there WR room before:
Chris Olave
Garrett Wilson
Jaxon Ngjiba-Smith
Jameson Williams
Marvin Harrison Jr.
Julian Fleming
Emeka Egbuka
Williams couldn't get on the field -- so he transferred to Bama and will be a 1st round pick. Olave and Wilson will be 1st round picks in the NFL draft. Ngjiba-Smith was their best WR last year even though he played alongside two 1st round NFL picks.
Julian Fleming 5 star #1 WR in the class of 2020 (#3 recruit nationally) and Emeka Egbuka 5 star #1 WR in the class of 2021 (#5 recruit nationally) were their backups this year. Marvin Harrison Jr. caught 3 tds in the only game he started against Utah in their bowl game.
OSU is simply VASTLY more talented than every team in the B1G. You could add up the 5 star recruits for every other team in the B1G and multiply it by 2 and OSU would still have more 5 star recruits.
What the B1G needs is for Texas or A&M to become elite and start signing all the Texas recruits again, because OSU makes a KILLING off of them. JT Barrett, Jeff Okudah, Baron Browning, JK Dobbins, Quinn Ewers (thankfully he left), Emeka Egbuka, Garrett Wilson, Jaxon Ngjiba-Smith, Donovan Jackson all 5 star guys or top 50 guys -- those are just the guys off the top of my head.
