This is a perfect example of why the Braves have been the only competent pro sports team in Georgia since forever.

The Falcons saw the Braves let the face of the franchise walk and traded for a younger, elite player of the same position from metro Atlanta and figured they'd do the same thing. Only problem is they just reworked the face of their franchise's contract like last week and he wasn't a free agent and the Braves are coming off a World Series title while the Falcons have a top 10 pick.

I guess QB is taken care of, but I'm assuming it's gonna cost a lot of draft picks and the team has no cap space. It's gonna be a long rebuild.

Quite the pessimist.

They went 7-10 with Ryan and Watson is better. In his prime.
 
And I'm all for trading Matt Ryan. He's old and stiff and this lack of o-line is taking years off of his life, but it's kinda shitty to do it right after reworking his contract. Say what you will, but he's done nothing but right by the Falcons, especially considering the whole dog fighting scandal the last franchise QB did. It's a business and all that, but this is dirty pool IMO.

They have no cap space?

They should be able to rework contracts to get cap space.....like the Saints are doing this offseason.

I'm not a pessimist anymore. I'm all in on UGA and the Braves going back to back. I'm a realist. It was an impressive coaching job by Arthur Smith IMO. That roster had no business winning more than 3 games. TE and CB are the only real areas of strength for this team.

They just reworked Ryan's contract and Jake Mathews' contract, and I guess Ryan's contract will be gone, but they'll need more.

Not sure. Think I saw him retweeting Falcon news earlier today though. Kind of a shame so much of his career was wasted before he found his true calling in the league though.
