If the B1G and SEC both increase to 18 members with your given scenario in the first paragraph, then I could see the Big XII also increasing to 18 members by not only adding the three schools you mentioned in paragraph two (Florida State, Clemson, Miami), but also adding Pitt, Louisville, and Notre Dame.... yup, the Irish might finally realize that joining a conference is necessary.
If the above would happen, then Syracuse, Boston College, and Wake Forest would be the big losers stuck on the outside. Those three schools would either need to go independent or to the American Conference.
I don't see ND joining a conference. And if they change course, I doubt it's going to be the Big 12 as a reactionary move. I agree on the Big 12 adding Louisville and Pitt though. Good rivals for WV.
