I get a good lol reading all the dumb shit people say about Gonzaga. 17 wins in the tournament the last 5 times, but they can't win in the tournament. Truly idiotic stuff.

And people say that they found our weaknesses. Every team will lose if they miss shots they make in every other game against similar defense and turn it over 14 times.

Winning it all is a combination of getting there enough times and luck in terms of how hot you are and how good of a field it is that year.

Making the Final 4 is more a mark of a good program/team.

Kansas has made 20 Final Fours and won 3.

I also think the Zags team with Hachimura and Perkins was good enough to win.

If the BE is gonna do this they cant fuck up the round robin style

Time to ship Depaul to the MVC

These rumors have actually been around for a few years.

Gonzaga fits the conference in every way except for the fact that they are 2500 miles from Villanova and St Johns.

If not, they'd have been in the conference for 8 years already...

The other thing I would say is though I'm not opposed to it, Gonzaga doesn't really need to make that drastic of a move. If you can make the Final 4 twice, you can win the championship, the conference isn't the problem.

Other issue is having to add two more conference games

And, the Mike Few/Tommy Lloyd factor

I believe a move the BE would help offset things but

1. How much longer will Few coach and will the next coach be able to keep the train moving

2. Was Lloyd the key to it all?

They would get rid of the round robin if they added Gonzaga and split up the conference so that Gonzaga only travels to the central schools and then has a couple of big east coast trips.

I agree that the BE would help Gonzaga in the far future.

I think the main factor would be money and I don't know anything about that. But I'm pretty sure Gonzaga gets more if they're basketball only in the BE.

Big East schools make 4 million a year in their television deal. If I had to guess(couldn't find the exact number on the WCC deal) Gonzaga and the other WCC schools probably make 1-2 million. With BYU leaving, that is a huge hit to when the negotiations begin on the next deal. ESPN/CBS Sports are basically paying(let's say each school is receiving 1.5 million, which is probably high) 120 million over 8 years(at the time of the agreement), to have Gonzaga air on their network a combined 10 times. Leaving according to the contract 24 more games for the rest of the conference. Meaning Gonzaga is really the only team that pulls in an audience, with BYU a distant 2nd.

The question you have to ask yourself, is if Gonzaga could bring enough so that each Big East team would make 6/7 million per year. Can Gonzaga get that number to from 44 million divided by 11 teams to let's say 72 or 84 million divided by 12 teams. So is Gonzaga worth an additional 28 or 40 million per year to tv networks. If they did want to make the switch, my guess is that ESPN would definitely become interested because they'd go about 2.5 months without being able to show a Gonzaga game. Or maybe Gonzaga would just want to make what other Big East schools are making and then it's only 4 million extra on top of what networks are paying now.

Gonzaga would more than likely have to give up it's agreement about them getting more shares of NCAA units than the rest of the conference, that they have in place now with the WCC. But more Big East teams when more tournament games so they'd still make significantly more in unit revenue by jumping conferences.

If the logistics can get figured out, it's a no brainer for the BE to add them IMO.

I could be wrong but I really doubt Gonzaga ever ends up in the Big East
