GAME #1 Bama @ TX | 11CT | FOX

This could be a blessing for Bama. They have been reading press clippings all off season about being perhaps the best Bama team. Now Saban gets to point at the screen in the film room and scream his midget head off, while being 2-0..
I would love for you guys to do us like you did LSU in 2019...

I don't have a problem with horns down...but if you're doing horns down after that shitfest I would tear you a new one.

Do it during the game and it's a penalty. He told the team about this. So for some to then do it at that time, after a come from behind last seconds win...yeah that's going to get you in trouble with Coach!

So I had people over at my house on Saturday to watch the game. The way Bama played I drank way too much. Pretty shitfaced all day Saturday. Just wanted to let my Texas people know that I think y’all played one hell of a ball game. Future is looking great for the Longhorns. Oughta be a great season for them. I hope that Bama uses this gut check football game to build some character. Can’t play like that the rest of the season or it could get ugly for the Crimson Tide. I think we had more penalty yards did we had rushing and the game.

I felt same about Tennessee. We came out with a win but man did we make mistake after mistake in second half as well as 1Q. One silver lining for us was that our Defense (the unit that was considered our weak point) won the game for us.

It is a little misleading on offensive stats as we only exploded for about 3-4 drives in the 2nd quarter and our offense was iffy the rest of the game.

So all you have to do when about to get sacked is throw it at someone?

Not exactly. I don't remember seeing the ball hit anyone, but, if he got the pass off and it hit a defender, even unintentionally, you can't really call intentional grounding because you don't know if the ball would have crossed the LOS if it were untouched.

ME: *breaks it down action by action by action by action from beginning to end*
YOU: “Well… ummm… it just wasn’t.”

Cool.

The problem, imo, isn't whether he was ruled "in the grasp" or not, the problem is that the rule is too subjective. It depends on what the ref feels is "in the grasp". Some refs probably would have called that in the grasp.

Had a Texas player intercepted that pass and it was ruled "in the grasp", you'd likely be complaining about getting a safety instead of a touchdown.

Yeah it definitely hit a Texas dude in the front of his helmet as he was leaning over to put him the rest of the way to the ground.

Yeah, I finally saw that in one of the highlights someone posted. That would negate intentional grounding.

problem is.. he was down before the pass

lol no.. i'm not crying at all.. it was a terrific game.. Bama is better than us from top to bottom.. I can live with that loss this weekend.. What I won't tolerate is any other loss.. especially when Quinn returns Oct 1st..

with or without the refs

It’s definitely subjective, definitionslly subjective. . It’s that WAY WAY less has been called in the grasp consistently.

You have to beat the Alabama team and the refs. Been that ways since around 2011 when Saban was truly eastablished.

Tyler Simmons wasn’t offsides when he blocked that punt in the 2017 NCG

I’d definit

I’d prolly have the initial visceral reaction, sure.
But after it was explained to me , I’d begrudgingly admit that in the grasp has been called for way less.
Which is the case, and I think you agree: in the grasp has been called for WAY less. Right?

Young was obvs down, 100%. That was just a fucking robbery in broad daylight.

No better safety net than always having the refs in your back pocket. Roll tide en sech.

Oh, I definitely agree. That's why, imo, the issue is the subjectiveness of the rule, not so much how it was applied (or not applied) on that play.

We've seen in the grasp be called with less than what we saw on that play, but we've also seen plays where a guy gets tackled similarly, never touches the ground and is able to make a play.

Not really sure how to reconcile that short of getting rid of the rule, which is unlikely because of emphasis on player safety.
