The highest TV rating for a BigXII conference game (without OU/UT) this year is 1.6. Why is anyone bidding a big amount when that is the ceiling?

If CBS was bidding a big amount then they wouldn't have lost the SEC, that's the point, they are going cheaper.

compared to:

Arizona
Wake Forest
Oregon state
Duke
Pitt
Cal
UCLA
current USC (they are different when right)
Utah
Oregon

yea, very similar or even better.

Oregon vs. UCLA drew 3.8M viewers, which is about 50% more than the top BigXII game not featuring OU/UT.

You can claim all you want about the quality of the conference. I'm talking about interest. No one cares about the other teams in the BigXII.

The SEC went for an astronomical amount.

You can get the BigXII for cheap, because...let's be honest, no one cares about them.

See, this is why coaches should have been lined up to come to Knoxville. You get a decent coach and you can win their and win big and become a legend. It just takes a decent coach.
This aged well. In Tennessee's defense, they did score a TD. That is surely to catch the eye of some coaches.

Finally scored after being in red zone 3x with no score.

Although I agree with 90% of your argument, I will say that people care about teams that are highly ranked as well like Cincy right now who would be irrelevant if not for their undefeated record.

The Big12 has several programs that have been highly ranked lately like Oklahoma State, Baylor, Cincy, UCF, BYU, Kansas State, and Iowa State.

You'll find know argument that the remaining BigXII teams are as relevant as Cincy.

The difference is that Cincy isn't getting many people to watch their games, which is exactly the fate of the "new" Big XII.

aaaand when the new Big12 member(s) are ranked from beating each other like we all know they will be, then the ratings will be higher because it will "mean more" to more people. They will be on par as far as entertainment and eyes with the PAC when its all said n done.

They are getting more than normal and probably a decent amount but you are absolutely right that none of the Big XII teams now (or in the future) have the staying power when compared to any of the other Power 5 leagues.

The revised Big12 resembles the Big East from 2005-its collapse.

Good return, lets go get a cheap one

Be trolling much?

Let's be honest, programs like Texas, USC, Tennessee, Michigan, Nebraska, FSU, etc. are one Nick Saban away from winning National Titles regularly. All they need is quality coaching to turn things around.

It also doesn't happen in one season. Nick Saban was 7-6 in his first year.

Interesting, we are playing Milton.
