GAME #1 (playoff) Tennessee at #1 (AP) Georgia 2:30 ET on CBS

Actually most the WRs will be back.

I am not sure Georgia has built up yet either. I am just not 100% sold on Georgia long-term. Was last year a fluke or the rise of a regular dynasty? @Red_Alert gave you a hard time about this but he has a point. Georgia gets overhyped all of the time and falls flat in big games. Kirby is changing the narrative but I am not sure if it is 100% yet.

They have the advantage today but I am not so sure their defense and offense is light years ahead of Alabama like you are making it. You say we haven't seen a defense like Georgia. I disagree. Tennessee has played pretty stout defenses with Alabama, LSU, and Kentucky. I think they have defenses "like" Georgia. Maybe not 100% as good but they are not far off. Even Pittsburgh had a tricky defense.

I also think Alabama has one of the best RBs and QBs in the nation and are still a major threat. They don't deserve to be ranked in top 5 but if you went off my opinion about who is the best team in the nation, I would still go with Alabama right now. Georgia is 2-8 versus Saban with one of those wins being in 2007 during Alabama's 7-6 season.

Tennessee is #1 in playoffs and it took an amazing home environment and some bad plays by Alabama for Tennessee to win.

I am really nervous about Tennessee's chances today but statements like "Tennessee hasn't seen a defense like Georgia" come off as hollow to me when we have played teams like Alabama, Kentucky, and LSU to date. I could say Georgia hasn't seen an offense like Tennessee (although they played Oregon and I would say Oregon has a great offense, I am not sure Oregon's offense was clicking in week 1 though).
Georgia has finished 2nd, 6th, 4th, 7th and 1st in the nation the last 5 years. Alabama is the reason they haven't finished higher than that, as they have been the premier team in all of CFB for 10+ years.

Offensively -- I am not saying Georgia is light years better than Alabama. I think Georgia and Bama are very comparable offensively. I think Georgia has better WR's and TE's, Alabama has a better RB and QB. Defensively -- I think Georgia is better. Bama has struggled against any team with a vertical passing game this year -- Texas would have beat Bama if their QB doesn't get hurt. He threw for 140 yards in the 1st quarter against Bama before getting hurt.

And I have no doubt Tennessee will be the best offense Georgia has seen. I wouldn't put down Tennessee's offense by comparing Oregon to them. I think Tennessee has NFL caliber talent at the skill positions and they are going to put pressure on Georgia's defense all game. I just think Georgia simply has more talent.

True but I don't look at it 100% on this offense is better than that offense but rather on is that team capable of challenging Georgia in the secondary or not. Florida and Oregon are the only teams Georgia has played that were even capable of exposing the secondary and Florida has been very inconsistent game-to-game in the passing game. Oregon was just ambushed. I don't read very much into that game because it was a very tough opener for first time coach with first time QB to play in. Although I think Georgia still wins, I think that game looks totally different if played today.

Texas and Texas A&M, in reality, should be far better teams and programs.

Keep in mind Alabama has had to play Arkansas, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Texas. All five (despite record) are matchups that can challenge Alabama. You put those games on Georgia's schedule and those are far tougher than any opponents not named Florida or Oregon on Georgia's schedule.

@CoalTrain

Yeah, I am thinking hard about this one. It will still be a very daunting task for us to win in Athens. I am worried that we will have a couple of stalled drives due to penalties that may cost us the game.

EDIT: I think 1st quarter will be huge like Josh Pate said. If Tennessee comes out explosive, we will win it. If Georgia comes out and controls the game, it will likely go their way.

Have you not been following College Football before this year? What would make you not sold on Georgia? Georgia has sign 19 five star recruits and 59 four star recruits in the last 4 years. They have found a coach finally. They are recruiting as good or better than Alabama right now. Alabama only has 17 five stars in the last 4 years. There are like 4 teams right now recruiting at a level where they don't have to rebuild, they simply reload, no matter how many guys they lose to the draft. Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and Clemson (though Clemson has done it with all american QB's in Watson and Lawrence -- they have struggled some with Ukelele (sp) who hasn't been on the other two QB's level)

Will Georgia go on an Alabama type run? I don't think we will see anyone go on a run like that for a long, long time, but Georgia will be right there, each and every year, because they have a sickening amount of talent in state.

I have been following since ESPN days and the gag was always Georgia was preseason National Champion. Granted, that was Mark Richt era. Maybe that era is just in my mind.

I think you buy too much into recruiting rankings. They are an important factor but not the be all end all.

EDIT: I will say this, their are delusion fans on both sides. A lot of Vols fans are very confident we win and a lot on UGA side saying they win easy. I am so on the fence with this matchup. Tennessee matches up well with Georgia based on scheme but Georgia has the players and is playing in Athens. This game has been dissected to death and there are just so many intangibles that can make the game go either way. I just don't have the confidence either way.

At the beginning of the recruiting rankings -- they weren't the end all be all. In today's CFB, where recruits are more complete and closer to their ceiling than ever before -- it is ENORMOUSLY important to pull top recruits. It is why they have put out a list for like 20 years and no team with less than 53% blue chip recruits on their roster has won a national title.

Back in the day -- you could bring in recruits who hadn't been to national camps, who hadn't had strength and condititioning coaches in HS, who haven't had specialized position coaches, who hadn't faced the other top recruits in the nation -- this is all the norm now with recruits. Is it important to hit on some diamond in the rough guys who fit the program? Absolutely. But if you don't have some of alot of those top recruits -- you aren't winning titles today. And it may be just my opinion, but the last 20 years has backed it up.

Getting off for party. Good luck to everyone's teams. I hope we can win this one. We will see.

I’m barking today. Fuck Tennessee

Some point in this game, Danielson is going to still find a way to gargle on Sabans dick.

Damn what a start on first run.

You gotta make those plays if you want to win.

Damn, wow can't be doing that shit.

Crowd cost us 5

crowd cost us another 5
