Sparty's a mess right now, but I'll take it as a game closer to .500 in-conference.

Michigan St had the #5 recruiting class for 2023, but none of them are getting significant playing time.

Of the 5 starters last night, two are graduate students, two are seniors, and one a junior, so they're a veteran group. Izzo said in his presser that he's gonna restructure.
Their bench is two freshman and two sophomores.

@ Kansas St on Dec 17th looks to be a tough out. They are 46th in KenPom where Nebraska is 60th.

North Dakota (Dec 20th) and South Carolina State (Dec 29th) look to be wins 9 and 10, or potentially wins 10 and 11 depending on the Kansas St outcome.

On the bright side, the Big 10 only has 4 teams without an in-conference loss, so I still think .500 and 19 or 20 wins (overall) before the Big 10 Tourney is obtainable.

In the 2023 NCAA Tourney

Indiana got in with 22 wins
Penn St got in with 22 wins
Maryland got in with 21 wins
Northwestern got in with 21 wins
Illinois got in with 20 wins
Iowa got in with 19 wins
Michigan St got in with 19 wins

Good locker room adjustments for the 2nd half tonight.

Kansas State dropped from 46th to 67th in KenPom at (8-3).

Nebraska moved from 60th to 42nd at (9-2).

Take care of business hosting North Dakota and South Carolina State and they'll be 11-2 with 18 Big 10 games ahead of them in the regular season.
Go .500 in those (9 wins) will get them to 20 and a likely NCAA Tournament bid.
A win or two in the Big 10 Tournament will be icing on the cake.

Gave up the 1st 4 points of the second half but went on a 30-10 run. Up 11 late. Some idiotic 3s (30 footers) made by ND made it somewhat interesting but we won by 8.

If you want to make sense of the North Dakota/Nebraska game just think about #1 Purdue losing to Northwestern who lost to (7-9) Chicago State, and you'll have your answer. LOL

That being said.... Going back to the Minnesota loss, Nebraska won the 1st half 39-24. They went on to lose the 2nd half 52-26.

Since that game, Nebraska's won 3 straight 'trailing' at half....

Trailed Michigan State 34-31 at half. Won the 2nd half 46-36.
Trailed @ Kansas State 34-31 at half. Won the 2nd half 31-12.
Trailed North Dakota 42-32 at half. Won the 2nd half 51-33.

I guess what kind of adjustments do you make at halftime when you're up 15 pts? It's the other team that needs to make adjustments, no?

If Ihenacho stays healthy an eligible, I'm gonna say they're the frontrunner for the Summit. He's a future Gopher, Husker, Cyclone, Hawkeye or better.

This team kind of feels like it's on a razors edge. They could be so good. Especially if Mast comes back just as good. Tominaga and Gary are 2 all big ten candidates if they're playing smart. But it also feels (might just be the Husker basketball fan in me) like it could go really bad if they have a few bad shooting nights in a row.
