2023 Hall of Fame Voting

That's your gig, not mine.

Ok, we differ a lot then.

Sheffield
A. Rodriguez
Kent
Ramirez

And maybe. Rollins
I don’t think we do differ that much. We both agree on Kent, and your other 3 are all “excusable” in my book. They don’t get my vote (Shef, maybe), but I am ok with them getting votes.

The fact that Curt Schilling won't get in the hall is proof that the people who vote are left wing assholes. He's not in only because of his conservative political views and outspoken way. His baseball creds are good enough. This process needs an overhaul.
Barry Bonds
Roger Clemens
Pete Rose
"Shoeless" Joe Jackson
Curt Schilling

and of course "Sweet" Lou Whitaker

Then, you may think about others.

Three straight blank ballots for this old fuck who doesn't even go to games anymore. Ron Cook having a ballot because he once covered the game when Honus Wagner played is what is wrong with the BBWAA.

Someone needs to shove his ballots up his own ass.

the BBWAA are the worst

the BBWAA are the worst
Bonds and A-Rod are probably the two best players of my lifetime and neither are in because the BBWAA are a bunch of bull shit purity artists.

Which is funny because how many of them are fine with cheaters of years past in there.

and yeah, you've got spitballers and greenies users in the HOF.

“Sweet” Lou Whitaker - 75.1 WAR (2.9% Hall of Fame Vote)

Derek Jeter - 71.3 WAR (99.7% Hall of Fame Vote)

Derek Jeter belongs in the Hall of Fame - No Question. Why is Lou Whitaker not in the Hall of Fame?

I'm guessing the poor showing with the BBWAA and Veterans Committee was the relative lack of hardware ("only" 5 ASG selections, 3 GGs, 4 Silver Sluggers; won RoY, but only got MVP votes one year and finished 8th) and lack of milestones (2369 hits, 244 home runs, 143 stolen bases, never had 100+ RBIs and only two seasons with 100+ runs scored)? Did he have a rocky relationship with the Detroit press? It surprised me that he failed to make it while Trammell (who had comparable if not inferior stats to Whitaker) made it in.

Whitaker only got 2.9% of the vote in his lone year on the BBWAA ballot. Grich is another 2B that barely got any consideration from the BBWAA (2.6%). I do think those two would fare *much* better if they appeared on a modern day BBWAA ballot though. I'd put both in.

Lou Whitaker was always a gentleman … Trammell and Whitaker should have been honored together. They were LOVED in Detroit. I don’t believe that Whitaker ever argued with an umpire. Whitaker was honorable and a professional. I understand Bonds, Clemens, Rose and Jackson, but I completely disagree with it. Schilling was left out because he he doesn’t think like some want him to think. Time to do the right thing. A-Rod also belongs.

Quick question...

Did Bonds, Clemens, McGwire, or Sosa get in?

No? Ok great news

They take all of the shit but most of the Hall's worst selections were admitted through avenues other than the writers' ballot.

you're right. second worst.

David Ortiz was first ballot and he tested positive lololol

it really is about how much the mouth breathing baseball writers like you at this point

I need to go back and find another local guy who voted for Ortiz but none of the other PED guys because the mental gymnastics over why he's different is incredible

In that context, A-Rod>Shilling
Yup. Why Rose, but no ARod? Both, unquestionably, broke actual rules that were on the books and received SIGNIFICANT suspensions because of their actions.
