2023 season thread

Watching the new season of The Righteous Gemstones and I think I just heard the most profound description of racing ever;

“Real talk, y’all: I don’t get this race-car shit. A bunch of rednecks racing around, seeing who can go nowhere the fastest.”

I just can’t respect any man that doesn’t like auto racing. Put the skirt back on, Nancy

It was pretty well common knowledge, but Josh Berry taking over the 4 next season is official.

Been some rumors about McDowell to the 10, but honestly, that might be a lateral move at this point

This goes against everything I stand for, but I really need Kyle Larson to have a great race today. I’m in 4th in my pool and I’m the only one in the top 10 that picked Larson. 2-5 are all within 5 points, but I really need to start cutting into the lead 1 has

Had such a clean race going until Reddick’s crew didn’t get a wheel on tight during the middle of green flag stops, and then Brad K misses a shift or something on the restart and Ryan Blaney gets the worst of it, Busch spun too and The Hack lost all his track position

Chastain runs the cleanest race of his life and wins at Trackhouse’s home track.

Can’t believe the one race I need Laron to do well, he’s a non factor. Top 5 ain’t bad, but Hendrick has always dominated this track and none of them were factors today

So happy for Ross/trackhouse, and double happy that Denny lost. Looked like the 11 was going to run away with it during stage 2.

I woulda been fine with Truex too

Harvick had the fastest car on the track until that flat tire. If that didn’t happen, I think he wins, he was up to 4th and closing on the leaders in a hurry all while his teammates were all running in the 20’s. But he never could get back on the lead lap and finished back with his teammates.

He’s gonna win one this year, and then SHR may never win a non super speedway race again without him

And next week is that Chicago street course. This will ensure that NASCAR will never have a presence in the Chicago area again. There’s zero chance this isn’t a disaster. Would have been better off just racing at Soldier Field like they did in the 50’s.

What are the odds that someone gets murdered during the race ? Either racer or fan

I think it's safe to say this will be the first and last Chicago street race. The track isn't supposed to be complete until Saturday at 1am.

Currently sitting 17th out of appx 40 players in our local NASCAR pool.

Entry is $50. They pull a number from a bingo cage wheel on Saturday's. The number pulled in your name is your poll position and where that car finishes the race is your points for the week. Lowest point total at the end of the season is the winner.

The winner doesn't get all of the prize money because there are smaller 2nd and 3rd place payouts. The bar uses a percentage of it to throw an end of season party with free food and drinks for everyone that participated (plus a guest).

I respect the idea but they should have chosen a place that already does a street circuit, like Miami with the F1 event or see how Vegas goes and do that.

Exactly. They were very reckless with this, imo.

Or just go back to Chicagoland, which was already one of the best 1.5 mile tracks, and now the new car has made 1.5 mile tracks exciting again.

This will be the last race NASCAR holds in the Chicago area

What a fucking disaster.
