That's the rumor.. When Alberts came in he fired staff and one was close to schloss and Trev didn't even give him a heads up... so he avoided him since then..

Also Pierce was upset about what was happening so he leaked the story to Kirk Bohls who broke his firing.. CDC never meant to overshadow game 3 of the CWS

Probably not since I’m 33, haven’t played competitively in 14 years and wasn’t that good when I did, but if I were an elite enough HS baseball talent that Texas would consider me, I’d have other options and I’d take one of them. That coach is a snake in the grass

Schlossnagle spent 18 years (2004 - 2021) at TCU and brought them to Omaha 5 times. I don't blame him for taking the A&M job.
It's quite possible he had an issue with Trev Alberts (AD) at A&M and didn't want to deal with him any longer.

The quote he gave hours before being announced as the new Texas coach is pretty shitty. Everyone is a liar, but that dude just smells like a rat. Kids are dumb though, so he’ll probably still have a great roster.

Pretty hard to be the biggest dbag of a coach in the CWS finals when you’re playing Tennessee, but he found a way

Like every coach who's thinking of taking another job ever?

How is he supposed to answer that question, "No comment"?

"No comment" to the rumor would have been construed as a yes and the post game presser would have continued down that path of distraction from what happened on the field of a really good CWS and championship series.

His comment to the rumor ended that distraction and the presser got back to the actual game/games.
Good for him.

A&M certainly could have matched what tejas offered Schlossnagle.
