2024 Olympics

You're right. I just went back and watched Guy's video. 3 diving and 2 table tennis.

It's also possible that he was saying that China has more individuals/teams left who are favoured/predicted to win gold but that the US has more contenders with a realistic shot at gold in the remaining events. I would think that the US has a decent shot at the men's 4 x 100 and it looks like they made the final in Women's Water Polo as well (edit: looks like that game is still ongoing but still the same point, they are still alive with a decent shot but probably not predicted/favoured) so with the 200 metres and the two basketball teams that's already more than 4.

Well there goes one seemingly for sure gold.

USA still the favorite in
W 400 hurdles
M 110 Hurdles
W 4x100 relay
M 400 hurdles
M 4x100 relay
M Wrestling 74kg
M Wrestling 57kg
W Soccer
M Basketball
W Basketball

Not saying we win them all but are favorites

What a fucking jinx I am! :dhd:

No go on water polo.

The latest. In the 200m, Trinidad's Tebogo upsets favored USA's Noah Lyles (bronze) and Kenny Bednarek (silver) to win gold. NBC broadcasters are trying to suggest Lyles may have had a health problem since he was so out of breath at the end. What a crock! Face it, after all the buildup, Lyles just got his freekin ass beat!

200m
Tebogo 19.46
Lyles 19.62
Bednarek 19.70

General point is still the same though. Taking a quick glance it doesn't look like there are many events left with Chinamen in the finals other than the diving and table tennis while there seem to be quite a few with an American contender. I suspect that he was probably trying to say that if everything goes exactly as predicted China will end up with one more gold but that the US has more good opportunities to win gold (and that it's rare that everything goes exactly as predicted).

Yeah . They just confirmed he has COVID.

When he said "5 good chances at diving golds" was he clearly saying "a good chance of winning gold in 5 different diving events" or might he have meant "5 different divers with a good shot at gold"?
He said they'd won five diving golds already, and had 3 more in play that they are favored to win. There's always a chance for upsets and such, but he said they had five total events where they "should" win gold, based on past/current performance. Add in 2 table tennis events and they have 5 "winnable" gold medals.

US has 9 by his reckoning: women's volleyball, men's 200, women's 400 hurdles, men's and women's basketball, and 4 track relays. They're also in the mix for other golds like women's soccer, and I just looked and we're currently 1-2 in women's long jump.

His point was that the US should win the total golds count again because China doesn't have enough "winnable" golds left on the table.

Drawn shittily.

He was wearing a mask yesterday at the pre-race health check. Possibly he was building an excuse for himself.

The hypothetical example that I should have given to show the point that I was trying to make is if there are 10 events and A wins every single simulation of one event and never wins any of the sims of the other 9 events while B is the second most frequent winner in the sims of each of the 9 other events Team A will be favoured/predicted by the sims to win 1 event while Team B will be favoured/predicted to win zero. But Team B will probably actually end up winning more events than Team A in almost every set of 10 event sims.

(edit: I didn't make it clear initially but of course there are teams other than A and B competing/winning in this exercise/these sims)
