Nebraska Cornhuskers 2024 Recruiting Thread (Commit list in OP)

Looks like Nebraska is close to closing it out with at least one OV... Shavers was the most likely to announce this weekend.

I believe Shavers is a commit but I will not be posting him on the OP until it is officially reported by one of the recruiting sites because his announcement was a bit odd.

Did nebraska even try to get this guy?

Not really... for a while we did but it seemed like he might not qualify academically so we moved on. After he committed to Illinois the Nebraska staff was like, "Okay, well, whatever." And just moved on to the next on the list. We may have taken him initially but once our OL class filled and he decommitted from Illinois we weren't going to hold a spot for him. He's not THAT talented.

I'm also dubious on whether or not he'll end up at Mizzou from what i've heard. He'll sign Wednesday but it remains to be seen how much work he can get done to get on campus.

Recruit from Oregon, Dylan, remains committed to Oregon after his OV

I'm not much for commitment videos, but he did this well.

I still wouldn't mind a transfer portal QB with a year of eligibility left, then redshirt Dylan and hope he develops for a year before throwing him into the fire.

Alright fellas... a signing day primer... I will update as I can...

College Announcements: Nebraska will be waiting on decisions concerning a few more names on Wednesday but it should be relatively quiet after that. There are people on twitter making statments about Brandon Baker and Nate Frazier, I don't expect Nebraska to be even remotely in the running for either. It's just twitter banter as far as I know. Here are the names to keep an eye on tomorrow:

Amare Sanders (3-Star, DB) [Miami, FL] - Amare visited Nebraska in June officially but seems to be likely to join the class. Probably the other team to watch is Virginia but I expect Sanders is likely to choose Nebraska at 11am tomorrow morning.

Larry Tarver Jr. (3-Star, DB) [Miami, FL] - Tarver is currently committed to Maryland but Nebraska is making a push coming into signing day. Crystal balls are coming in for Nebraska. Will Nebraska take two DBs from Miami when they already have a ton on the roster? Maryland is the other team to watch. This is a wildcard... very interesting. We'll find out at 8am tomorrow morning.

Vincent Shavers (3-Star, LB) [Miami, FL] - Shavers is a former Miami commit that Miami had to cut loose because they are hitting the portal hard. Shavers is a 4-Star on Rivals, a 3-Star elsewhere. Can Nebraska go 3 for 3 in Miami on Wednesday? Shavers is almost as sure of a thing as anything could be going into the morning. He also signs at 8am tomorrow morning.

I just hope he can live up to the hype. Has patience to sit for a year and learn and stick with it. Seems sticking to a commitment is a hard thing for young kids to do these days.

I could see him sitting for a year if McCord had transferred in, but McCord has moved on.

I expect Raiola and Kaelin to compete for the starting job come spring and fall.
