In the 247 composite 4 stars go all the way to #421

All 4 stars definitely are not created equal.
I had an argument on here last year with a Gator fan who couldn't wrap his brain around the star average not meaning anything. Here you have a no. 33 4* equalling the same as a no. 421 4*. It's hilarious.

Yea overall player ranking is definitely what you have to look at these days. 4*s are so spread apart theres way too many of them IMO

The # of 4*s they give seems to just gets bigger and bigger every year too.

yep they got tired of getting dragged for bad evaluations.. so if you rank more players as 4 stars it makes it look good at the end. As much as i don't like Rivals..they actually did the 5 star (6 star) tier justice. The other sites rank 32 sometimes a little more as 5 stars.. (new reasoning for this is because there are 32 1st rd selections at the draft). Rivals would sometimes just have as little as 12 at it's highest rankings.. But now they too are adding the 6th star to the top 32 or so

Last years final composite ranking ended with #447 being the last 4*

This year we are at #421 and it's only April. Might clear 500 when we get to the final rankings.

It just becomes watered down when you start slapping 4* on any kid you are "scared of under evaluating"

that's what they are doing.. I mean last cycle there was a DT from MS who wasn't even ranked.. UT offers him, then MSU and Ole Miss.. he shoots up to a borderline 4 star within a month?

This was forever referred to as the "Bama bump." Bama offers and suddenly the recruit jumps higher in the rankings.

If you think through it, it makes sense. There is no way, even in today's Internet world where it is easier than ever for players to get their film out, for ranking services or teams to be able to have seen everyone. Especially when at that age kids can physically develop quickly. So, if a player with no offers suddenly "blows up" and gets offers from top teams with a history of top recruiting, it should be no surprise that they would rise in the rankings.

So, yeah, when someone like Satan offers someone, people better take notice. He has a track record of being able to evaluate talent. Same with any of the top teams ... if they want a players who is unranked, it makes sense to reevaluate that player.

Interesting new rule ... players can take un limited Official Visits. Previously was limited to 5 schools.

Not certain how much difference it will make. Schools are still limited to 56 Official Visits per year. The better programs won't give out OVs willy nilly.

lol wonder if some programs will double dip and exploit this rule.. Like if a kid wants to visit UGA again.. but already used his OV.. will he ask to OV GaTech.. and as soon as he is done there he takes a rental and drives to Athens?

1 visit per school per calendar year, unless coaching change.

The 56 OV limit per team is what will limit this. A very top player may try to take advantage of some smaller/lesser schools, but they too will have to protect their numbers.

yeah i saw that Schools can only give out 56.. but lets be real.. they are still 'assisting' unofficials

I don’t think Wiltfong has any idea…he’s made more predictions than possible schools at this point. That said, I think you’re right. Today Rhule started following a QB committed to South Carolina that Satterfield (our OC) recruited while he was there. We haven’t publicly given any 2024 QBs the time of day so far so that seems significant. If it doesn’t work out for you guys feel free to send him up the UGA-NU transfer pipeline, or whatever former 5 star he beats out 😂
Hey @WhosYourDawggy hook a brotha up

Could it be to the CornDawgs? I'm pulling for you!

What we are hearing on the boards is that it is (1) NIL, and (2) he might not have had the best spring. My guess is that he will head to Texas where they dropped an NIL bag. Hey, that's the game, and if we won't play,* this will happen. Hard to argue with someone getting paid and getting to go home - he's from DFW. He's got an SEC and NC ring ... get the money and go home.

We do know he can't go to an SEC team and play. He would have to sit out a year. That takes ATM out of the equation, although they could certainly pay the NIL.

On a scale of 1-10, this is about a 6. He's really good and would have been a starter this year. But, we are loaded at DL. We had a couple of guys who could have been 3rd day NFL guys decide to come back for their senior year. So, it stings a bit, but isn't a huge deal.

* By "not play" what I mean is that Smart has made it clear that he won't get into bidding wars. If a player comes to him and says "I can get $X from so and so, what can you do," it's a hard pass. Now, if a player comes and says, "I need to see what we can do with NIL ... my family has needs," Smart will try to work with the player. We are in the NIL game, for sure. Just not going to get into a bidding war.

I've heard Texas is the team to watch for Bear as well.

Whelp, his guardian is currently on the sidelines at the USC Spring Game (per his Instagram account). No chance that they've been talking to USC prior to him entering the portal ... rolls eyes. He's actually not even in the portal, yet. But, there you go.

I'm not sure why they keep mentioning UT besides that we are the flagship school of the state.. But we actually have some real depth at DT/NT where he plays.. Sydir Mitchell is looking great today @WhosYourDawggy

I mean we obviously would take him but i would think a school like SC would be the ones to offer him a lot since they are desperate for DL playmakers

He has a teammate who is also committed to UGA ... he's a possible flip to FSU, too.

Many of you may not understand the draw that FSU has in southwest Georgia, and Auburn has to central-west Georgia. Those dudes from Moultrie can get to FSU in an hour. It's 3 hours 45 minutes to Athens. Same with the Columbus Georgia dudes and Auburn. They just as likely grew up FSU and Auburn fans as they did Dawgs.
