2024 Recruiting Thread

Guess our NIL game is still not getting it done, losing guys like this to Miami.
Damn that's rough. We went 5 for 5 on head to head with guys between OU and Miami this class.

These shitty underperforming schools who are just throwing NIL money around like crazy hoping they eventually hit the right combo of players are so annoying (Looking at Miami and Texas A&M)

Nothing about that is upsetting. If we lost him to UGA or Bama, I'd be upset. If he's the type of guy who will flip to Miami, he has bust written all over him.

Looks like legit activity for Jeremiah Smith to decommit going on too and rumors that we could lose a couple of more guys as well. If true gotta be something a little more than just NIL going on.

You mean Knowles?

He has already spoken with Duke about their job opening. Our OL coach is also in the running for the Indiana job, but IMO that wouldn't be a huge loss, he is not a good recruiter.

There's been stuff going on about Smith since the summer from different fanbases but I'm not buying it. I haven't heard about anyone else though.

It's going to be flip-city the week before ESD. It's when people will start putting out final offers. I guess that we will lose 2-3, but also flip 2-3. It's just the way it is.

Yep. The Endless NIL money pits just come out swinging. Ohio State has already made it clear that we aren't going to hand out blank checks to HS recruits so it's open season on our guys for people coming in with crazy high bids. It's very annoying but yea it's how it goes in this new era.

In the end though do you really want a guy who'd rather take a last minute bag to go to some perpetual also ran like Miami or Texas A&M?

flipped from aggy

Well we were supposed to flip Amaris Williams from Florida to lessen the blow of losing Scott. But looks like Auburn is swinging in with a blank check at the last second to ruin that. Gonna have to really hit some home runs on DL in the portal.

Alot of us trying that. DL and QBs going to get paid.

Miami dropping the last minute big NIL bag on us again. 4* RB Jordan Lyle about to flip to them

At least we have another high level RB in this class though, doesn't hurt as much as Scott flipping.

I honestly thought that happened like around Halloween. Makes sense for him honestly.

It's been rumored for awhile.

I just hope we can hang on to Jeremiah Smith at this point from their swinging NIL bag-a-thon theyve got going on.
Eh, if he takes a bag from Florida or Miami, then he was never really the right fit for OSU anyhow since his priorities are clearly shit.

That said, I'm just not worried about it given our history. Going back to Mike Thomas, Curtis Samuel, Terry, Olave, Marv, even Noah Brown - none of them were higher than 4*. Wilson and JSN were the only 5* kids we've had become big-timers. I hope this is all smoke with him and he comes to OSU, because his film says it's a kid we could develop immediately, but if his priorities are a few extra bucks in NIL while he's a teenager, we'll move on just fine.
