2024 Season Thread

23XI and FRM filing an anti-trust suit against NASCAR.

NASCAR is monopolistic?

Surprised Meme GIF
23XI and Front Row may end up being victorious in their lawsuit, but 23XI and Hamlin can kiss any chance of winning the title goodbye this season. The Reddick and Hamlin cars are going to be heavily inspected from here on out.

I never was a fan of Greg Biffle when he was driving, but hats off to him and the other NASCAR people out there helping with Helene relief in NC.

He’s actually coordinating rescue efforts with his helicopter

That was a massive wreck taking out a ton of playoff drivers

Good win for Ricky.

If it’s not a terrible block by Logano, it’s a bad push by Keselowski.

Say what you will about Spinhouse, but you don’t get 4 wins at drafting tracks without talent, and with the rides he’s had those are the only tracks he’s ever had a real shot to win at

Parker Klingerman got completely fucked over.

You can bet your house and everything that you own that if a Hendrick driver were in that same scenario, they'd let that car roll a few feet before throwing the yellow

Damn nascar their Hendrick favoritism.

Guess I'm a Briscoe fan for a couple of races now.

Supposedly a JGR engineer that has been looking to leave at the end of the year was reaching out to teams with JGR's race set ups. It is rumored that RCR paid the JGR engineer. I feel for certain this is why Andy Petree left. He either was involved and Childress let him walk instead of firing him so he kept his dignity, or Petree found out about it and walked before the shit hit the fan and he didn't want to be involved.

Guy is an idiot for shopping it around like that. When you're employed, you have to sign typical non-compete, proprietary information docs and all that stuff, but its still rather easy to take knowledge with you as people move team to team over the seasons. The non-competes aren't usually enforced since its a small community and most know you'll work for multiple teams at some point. The info and work you do is all owned by the teams though. You turn over all that did for them when you leave. Laptops and equipment used are owned by the teams, programs are accessed thru in house portals, etc to prevent you from straight up copying files and sharing. But there's ways around it that aren't all that hard. You won't get full files (which makes it easier to get caught) but you'll get enough info to piece everything together at your next place. The one thing that is pretty closely guarded though is shock data. Only a small batch of people have access to that and they also don't move around as much as other jobs (good shock and engine people tend to stay put). So he's either an idiot that was shopping himself around doing stuff that plenty people do but are smart enough to keep their mouths shut or he got something like shock data and was shopping it around

I'd love to know who blew the whistle. I doubt that will ever be revealed. If RCR did indeed buy the data, I guarantee they can point to it happening around Richmond when both Busch and Dillon started running considerably better.

Pretty sure Nascar isnt F-1
Cant see where Nascar could or even should do anything about this if true.
If a team has a NC or something about Propriety clauses. That would be a legal matter between team & person that broke the clause.

F-1 there are actual rules in place, but Nascar not that I am aware of.

Remember when no one could figure out what Penske & Rusty Wallace were doing with their cars. They let other teams come & look at the engine while they were testing whatever with the hood open.

Also remember Penske & Ryan Newman. Nascar again allowed other teams data trying to figure out why Newman could be so fast in qualifying & have such great fuel mileage in the race. They even accused them of some sort of traction control, which cause all teams to start putting their shit up on the Dash LOL.
Turned out. Newman knew there was no rule to changing carburetors. (at that time) So he used one for Qualifying & one for the race. Point being Nascar has always been one to give up secrets from other teams to the others.

Yeah, I don't think the engineer broke any Nascar rules per say, I think he just violated the unspoken agreement between teams. The latest rumor is that it wasn't RCR that received the information, but it was Legacy. Obviously that information didn't help them, they are still dog shit.

This sport is a Joke. Logano was dogshit all year. Won a lucky fuel mileage race at Nashville to make the chase. Had a lucky win at Atlanta to advance. Is ELIMINATED but gets back in on a penalty..and now a fuel mileage win at Vegas gets him in the CHAMPIONSHIP RACE??!!

Dude has had 5 good races all fkn year and he might win the championship. The sport is broken. It shouldn’t be like this

Someone crunched the numbers before the playoffs and they said if Logano managed to win, he'd statistically would be the worst champion ever.

Matt Kenseth was the last Legit Champion in Nascar as far as I am concerned.

Yes and a complete overreaction to him only winning 1 race that season started this bullshit. One of the best parts of NASCAR was watching someone like Earnhardt having trouble/struggling all day and having to scratch and claw just to salvage a top 10 to keep up in the points.

Now they just emphasize winning the race

Tony Stewart in 05, 3 of Jimmie Johnson’s championships, Keselowski in 2012, Truex in 17, Busch in 19 and Larson in 21 were legit, but the rest are Mickey Mouse bullshit and a season long championship format is the only kind I will recognize

What’s funny is NASCAR came closer to having a winless champion under this format in 2014 than they ever did under any season long format they used, and Matt Crafton did win a Mickey Mouse truck title with no wins under the playoff format.

Austin Dillon won his Busch Series title in a winless season under a season long format, but that was because Cup drivers won damn near every Busch race that season and Cup drivers couldn’t score drivers points in lower series
