2025 season thread

Truex and Johnson locked in on speed. Castronevis is guaranteed a spot

Hope the 62 and 40 make the field. 62 is a small team that’s been running the plate tracks for years and I’d like to see JRM field a full time Cup team and making the 500 would be a good start

Hate it to see the small teams get torn up trying to make the race.

66 is out

Feel bad for Jones, just finish the race then put the caution out

It is amazing how bad NASCAR is at officiating a race. Like back in the old days, it was literally just one guy. Kept up with everyone, how many laps down, etc. No issues. Now they've got tons of officials and millions of dollars of tech and they constantly fuck it up.

They are literally like 100 ft from the line. The wreck is behind them. There is no safety issue here. Completely brain dead to throw a caution

To say there were no issues I’d a bit of an understatement. Scoring errors were pretty common back in the day. Hell, there were only three competitive cars at the first Talladega race thanks to tire safety issues and most teams pulling out, and Bobby Isaac played it safe, so only two cars were in contention for the win and its still highly debated who actually won the race. Richard Brickhouse gets credit, but there’s a ton of people that say Jim VanDiver was actually nearly a lap ahead of Brickhouse and should have got the win

Utter idiocy that they didn't wait the 1.5 seconds needed to let them pass the line then drop the caution. This is why long time, nascar purists, have abandoned it----myriads of decisions like these. That, plus the racing is crap.

Boomers miss the days of drivers winning races by 2 laps every week

Yeah, they really shit the bed there. Throwing the caution when they did accomplished nothing as everyone was already less than 1 second from crossing the finish line anyway. Jones crew chief should've definitely told him to wait before celebrating.

He handled it really well. On the last lap, just let them finish the race

No when they would race to the yellow.
Yeah, it happened way more often back then

First ever what would become the first Cup Series race

First ever Daytona 500

Richard Petty’s unofficial first career win

First ever race at Talladega

Bobby Allison’s win at Bowman Gray

Brett Bodine’s only career win

Ricky Rudd’s black flag

And those are just the famous ones

You fuckers don’t know what you want. You’re the same people that claim the caution should have came out earlier to give Mark “Brett Favre” Martin the win when they let em race to the line and Harvick beat him to the line in the Daytona 500

no that’s the way a race should finish on the last lap. Ya I felt bad for Mark at the time, but you got to finish the race.

That wasn’t the popular thought on the message boards at the time, and you know it

500 start time bumped up to 130, as it should be anyway, due to weather forecasted for later in the day.

Pitbull has severed ties with Trackhouse effective immediately. I wonder if Justin Marks let Pitbull know that Saurez was out of a ride come 2026?
