LOL. So profound."discreditably?"
Never did care for his music
Maybe. I think Nirvana would have released one more album (or not), broke up, and he would have stayed pretty under the radar (whether he got clean or not).Cobain was just one of those many people (rather common in artists) who was simply too mentally & emotionally unstable to live a long & healthy life. Also rather common among that demographic is that they were not exactly model citizens and do not deserve to have the general population idolize them as they do.
Interesting that @ojb81 posted a gif of Eminem, because I directly relate Cobain to Marshall Mathers in that... had Cobain lived a full career he would've turned out exactly like Marshall Mathers did... ...eventually becoming an empty discarded parody of himself.
I think Foo Fighters are overrated as well, for the same reason. Dave Grohl seems like he' d be fun to hang out with, but doesn't mean their music does nothing for me. Foo Fighter formula = lets sing nice and mellow and gentle and THEN SCREAM AND RAGE AND FIRE UP STUPID HORMONAL BOYS and then back down to be nice and melodic and THEN SCREAM SOME MORE BECAUSE SCREAMING IS COOL.The “meh, sooo overrated” comments have ironically become the douchey typical response, since they started as a response to douchey Nirvana love.
There’s nothing overrated about them if you get past Nevermind, which no one with their edgy overrated comments has.
I at least understand Nirvana’s appeal, but I’ll never understand the Foo Fighters popularityI think Foo Fighters are overrated as well, for the same reason. Nirvana did do some cool chord work that I hadn't heard before, but I am only a mainstream music guy. It was new and cool, but most of it wasn't earth shattering for me. I'd listen to some of it on the radio and then change the channel when it got too mumble-mouthed.I at least understand Nirvana’s appeal, but I’ll never understand the Foo Fighters popularity
You being from Texas with all the great underground music that has come out of there since the 60’s it breaks my heart to see you say you only like mainstream. I’ve tried so hard to like the Foo Fighters, just because Grohl seems like such a genuinely cool person, and I can’t.I think Foo Fighters are overrated as well, for the same reason. I'm familiar with both and quite a bit more. But I'm not going out to Ricks in Denton anymore to see em, though not actually sure if Ricks ever rebuilt after the last fire. You being from Texas with all the great underground music that has come out of there since the 60’s it breaks my heart to see you say you only like mainstream. I didn't care then.
I don't care now.
Thought you should know.
I think the issue is the godlike pedestal Nirvana gets put on. Yes they were good (and I have all of their albums), but they weren't the best band from that era. It was only after his death that the Myth of Cobain really started. IMO, had he not died, they wouldn't be remembered the same way.The “meh, sooo overrated” comments have ironically become the douchey typical response, since they started as a response to douchey Nirvana love.
