GAME #4 USC vs #11 Utah (PAC Championship) 8pm (ET) FOX

Beat Utah with a one legged QB.
Lost to both rivals, one at home.

You can't both claim Nix was legit vs Utah and then claim they only lost to state because he wasn't 100%. That's some serious weak argument nonsense.

Nix went 1-2 in the last 3 weeks. When it counted he came up short.

Look at how this year played out. If TCU loses and with USC losing, there are two spots open. Do you give it to a 2 loss non-conference champ in Alabama? No. Do you give it to a 1 loss non conference champ in Ohio State who just got embarrassed by Michigan? Maybe they get one spot, but that 4th spot goes to Oregon with 2 losses.

If It's and Buts were Candy and Nuts, there'd be no need for Thanksgiving Vacations.

You post this like it's a shot at Oregon and Nix, that he isn't an NFL QB. Bud, I don't care if the Oregon QB goes on to win 8 Super Bowls or doesn't get drafted. If he wins at Oregon that is all that matters. Nix returning to Oregon next year is going to be electric. Instant top 5 team.
Again bud, he doesn't have much choice. He knows where he stands with the nfl and he needs another season to get there. It doesn't make a flying fuck where he plays college football next season, he needs to play college football next season. If it's with the Ducks, then good for you.
And you are right about one thing, it only matters to what he can do for Oregon, fuck the nfl. But he has an entire life to plan for and a career. The nfl is his best chance so he needs to stay and try to improve his draft stock. HE has far more in this than Oregon football. If he stays, we all look forward to next years' Oregon football and your threads.

I think we are on the same page here.

If only the heroic almost Heisman Nix would have had one more play on his hobbled legs!!!

There are 10 other teams that can ask what if. What if the ball doesn't bounce off a players helmet vs ASU and UW ends up 11-1? Only, that's not what happened. No reason to dwell on what ifs.

What we know is Oregon ended 9-3. They had a decent offense and a not so good defense, like 4 other teams in the Pac. None of the rest of those 4 would fare well in a playoff game either. That's the reality of this conference right now.

^^ THIS ^^

I guess you don't consider walking off the field crying with a towel over his head "destroyed"

Utah definitely broke him and took the soul out of him...

Georgia would beat them by 40+ if USC would have faked their way into the CFG. Good thing it happened last night.
Oh. I guess he will never play football again in that case.

Georgia is going to wreck EVERYONE they face in the playoff. 2+ score victories no matter the opponent. Yeah, I would have rather seen that be USC than tOSU.

It's why USC losing last night doesn't really bother me.

I have said all season that we do not have a cfp quality defense.

Utah doing what they did to our defense last night only prevented Georgia or Michigan doing it to them on an even bigger stage.

Hopefully we win our bowl game and get some help for the defense through recruiting and the portal.

Then, if we're in a position to go to the cfp next year, maybe we'll have a defense that's worthy of it.

Crazy how 11 teams in the Pac all need total defense rebuilds. They are all going to be fighting over every kid from that side of the ball in the portal. Never seen anything like it.

A 2 loss PAC-12 Champion Oregon team with one of those loses coming basically AT #1 Georgia gets into the playoffs, especially if TCU loses today.

Dude...I know weed is legal in Or and all, but step down a couple rungs on the strength ladder.

I would disagree a bit about USC needing a total rebuild on defense. But it does need a lot of attention.

A total rebuild was what was needed this past off-season. Unfortunately, the offense needed a rebuild too and you can only rebuild one side at a time. They rebuilt the offense and improved the defense a bit.

We were 3rd in the country in turnover margin and had a good sack rate as well. So, they did some things right.

They need to add some size so they can hold up better against teams that like to run between the tackles and also add some depth so there isn't so much drop off if a starter has to miss games.

100% agree with OD here, but it’s a BIG if.

If Nix returns, then Oregon should finish in the top 5….

Yeah, but DAYAAM... That "pass defense" is horrendous so much of the time. :twitch:

Oh well... :beer2:

They say offense is easier to build, so not a surprise thats what USC went hard after in Rileys first season. The problem I have seen over time is that a lot of coaches stop after getting the O they like. defense and special teams continue to struggle.

Time will tell the tale for USC.
