AAC expansion

Bets on the Sun Belt or CUSA making the next move
I think the CUSA is dead in the water and everyone will be jumping ship. CUSA will probably try to make a move but I see the Sunbelt cherry picking who they want and don’t see anyone leaving.

The Sunbelt just holds most of the cards and marquee names in that space right now.

So who are the biggest players that could be available:

La Tech
Liberty
Old Dominion

Who else?

AAC commish Mike Aresco says they will still push the Power 6 thing

dude you coulndt pull it off with UCF and Cinci in the fold you aint getting it with North Texas and Rice

That guy lives in a low rent dream world. IMO, the AAC is below the MWC now...at least in football.

The new Big 12 probably won't be able to keep up with the "Power thing" either....even adding BYU, UCF, Houston and Cincy.

i suppose we could include the MAC and Mountain West
I have heard ideas floated out there for both but im doubtful

If that’s a done deal, only movement I see is WKU and MTSU potentially joining the MAC. The rest of CUSA is in big trouble
La Tech needs a home.

They are undervalued.

The problem is there’s no more spots left. They may have to go independent and join the WAC for other sports

so if the So Miss and Marshall news is true

FIU
Middle Tennessee
Western Kentucky
La Tech
UTEP
ODU
are left in the shambles of CUSA

if they try and stay together do they invite New Mexico State, UMass and Uconn for some warm bodies and maybe make a play at Liberty and try a 10 team league?

They wouldn’t be able to get UConn or UMass to join

for football only tho

That doesn’t fix CUSAs problem of not having enough teams. That’s gonna be a problem in more than just football

easier to add small schools for other sports kind of like how sun belt has Arlington and MAC haas like 22 affiliate members for various sports
