ACC Basketball

I think the regular season championship means more, but nobody ever remembers who won the regular season title for mostly any league. It's sad but true.

But TBH, people don't really remember the tournament champion either unless it was some underdog run.

The truth is that everything sets up for the NCAA tournament, which is just how the sport is.

Getting a #1 seed is something people remember though.

But making the Final 4 versus winning a conference championship ... no comparison.
As an ACC fan, I can tell you who won the 2004 ACC tournament, but I can't tell you who won the ACC regular season that year

conference tournament titles are much more prestigious than regular season titles

i get the whole "one weekend shouldn't define a season" line, but uh, this is college basketball and that's the sport in a nutshell. The NCAA tournament is hardly the best format to determine the best team.

Conferences are way too big now for regular season championships to matter, imo. In a typical year, UNC's and Wake Forest's respective ACC conference slates are going to be tougher than Georgia Tech's.

that's you got out of my post?

less attention on that and more attention on me blowing the ACC

ty

I assumed that you and the ACC wanted some private time

Which is more important is a matter of opinion, especially since several leagues didn't even have a tournament until recently.

The other thing to remember is that in leagues like the ACC and B1G, it's really hard for a mediocre team to win the conference tournament, but in a mid-major conf it's not that hard. So, it could wipe out a whole season for a 1st place team.

i think it's appropriate to judge the mentally handicapped. If it took you until 1998 to start a conference tournament, then you should be publicly shamed.

BC hires Earl Grant from CofC. Grant's CofC program has been headed in the wrong direction over the course of the past two years. This is a weird move for both parties. Not that I expected BC to make a splash hire or anything.

ACC needs to cut their losses and admit they screwed up this expansion thing.

lmao, BC over West Virginia will always be a horrible decision. In 2003, WVU had natural rivalries with Maryland and Virginia. Had an established rivalry with Virginia Tech. In 2011, with expansion on everyone's mind again, WVU would have been reunited with Pitt.

but muh Boston TV money..

now, the ACC has a school with very little regional ties, a small fan base, and two weak revenue sport programs. It's bullshit

i don't like Goodman, but he's going in on BC

Does BC still have the most NCAAT wins without a FF appearance? I know that was the stat when Al Skinner was still @ BC, but he was fired over a decade ago and they haven't sniffed the NCAAT since

also, legit wonder if the Keatts is on the hot seat @ NC State

this is the third straight year they have missed the NCAAT and yes, they would have missed it last year if it wasn't for COVID

he has yet to have a top 40 team at NC State. He had injury issues this year, but he has to win next year.

Chris Mack just fired one of his coaching mentors in Dino Gaudio

wow

Could be. I know BYU has the most NCAA appearances without a FF but I'm not sure about wins.

wonder if the Deacs will be players

curious if Dino's canning had anything to do with his decommitment

Quick flip. He already went to Ole Miss. He was free for like a day so he must have already had this in mind
