no NIT for the Deacs so now its portal season

Monsanto, Hildreth, Klintman, Carr and Marsh should provide a solid core for 2024. think Klintman makes a solid jump and will be one of the better players in the league. big question mark about Monsanto and his injury. Freshman Friedrichsen and Marion should be rotational players from day one.

tbh, think the Deacs are a PG and rim protector away from being a really good team next year. Forbes needs to hit up the transfer portal for that.

Didn't make it or turned it down?

Looking back, it's pretty amazing UNC was unable to make the tourney. Though a number of preseason Top 25 teams underperformed, Carolina had an experienced core coming back. It wasn't like it was a #1 seed based on freshman.

#1 pre-season ranking was based off a fluke tourney run. They were a bubble team until the last day of the regular season for a reason. The only puzzling thing about this UNC team is Nance's decline in efficiency.

It's always that way.

If Memphis does the same thing this year and brings back everybody (I don't even know whos on their team) they will be Top 5 next year too.

Sometimes you dont even have to go on a big run either. Theres a lot of weight put on returning guys

Creighton this year was highly regarded and they were a bubble team that won a tourney game(granted battled the eventual champs in their loss)

Marquette pre Hausergate was a unanimous top 5 team the moment 2019 ended with many having them 2. That team got boat raced by Murray State in round 1.

Preseason is usually best collection of 5 stars or teams that return the most.

Didn't make it. Think the metrics weren't good enough (88 on KP, 90 on NET) XD

Ah. I didn't look at the NIT bracket. I just know we got in and figured if we could get in, WF should be too because we're pretty similar.

Well, that Marquette team (pre Hauser transfer) was a beneficiary of a weak year talent wise. Though it ended with a really good tournament.

This year too, there wasn't a lot of huge freshmen talent or proven teams. So yea, UNC and Creighton. Both questionable picks for a Top 10 team.

Next year will be different. UK and Duke have ridiculous classes coming in and there are a few teams, including Marquette, who should keep a lot.

Yeah, Wake's issue is that they didn't blow anyone out in the OOC schedule with the exception of Hampton. Only beat a horrible App State by one. Monsanto was just jacking up jumpers in the early part of the season and was even benches for a game or two.

There are multiple threads on Inside Carolina about getting rid of Hubert and replacing him with Stackhouse, lmao. Stackhouse's four year peak at Vandy is kenpom #80 and NIT..
