Adios, Crystal River, FL....errr I mean Boston

Don't ask me about where in Florida it'll make landfall, because it's not even a hurricane yet.

It's strength and size will make a big difference in it's steering.

That trough is actually keeping Franklin from making landfall along the East coast somewhere.

I’m not worried if they aren’t deploying the boat they are absolutely sure it’s safe. They can’t take that kind of gamble.

The boat just got back from a 45 deployment so they weren’t exactly pumped about heading back out.
The boat is now being deployed they are officially leaving the doc tomorrow early AM.

Is it common to have two tropical storms starting with the same letter? Do they allow that since there are way more tropical storms than hurricanes?
Only way that’s possible if one is an Atlantic storm and the other is a pacific storm

oh wow. at least they are being careful
They just got back like 4 days ago from a 45 day deployment and they are having to stock and fuel the boat back up and get it off the dock down 15 people because they are on unrecallable leave. So they aren't going to be able to patrol as that could be dangerous with a reduced crew so they will probably head to a safe zone and anchor.

To my knowledge not even then, because if a tropical system changes basins it keeps the same name.
Well they you could have two storms with the same name, but that’s only because they originated in different oceans.

Do you have an example of the same names being assigned in the Atlantic and Pacific basins?
No. When they publish the names at the start of the season they’re rarely if ever the same.

No. When they publish the names at the start of the season they’re rarely if ever the same.

I've never seen where the two basins have used the same name in the same year. The reason is because (although rare) a storm can cross from one basin to the other and they have to keep the same name.

So it sounds like even then it could never happen.

Right.

However, I don't know that it never happened between 1950 and 2000. I've just never seen it.

1950 is when they first started 'naming' tropical storms.

2000 is when they made it to where they had to keep the same name if they crossed basins. Since the letters (A, B, C, D, etc) and timeframes of tropical seasons are similar that could be confusing to the public for issuing warnings and advisories.
