Another day, another pitbull mauling

Are there other bears that people own?
Not sure why that matters.

If you remove pitbulls from the category of "dog" and just treat them as a "thing", it's the same logic.

Put "grizzly bear" and "pitbull" on the same level, "things".

One thing that can maul and kill people with ease is allowed to be owned and the other thing that can maul and kill people with ease is not. Both "things" can be "trained" to not kill and maul people with ease...until they don't want to listen to the training anymore.

Not sure why it matters? Well, do people keep panda bears? Or brown bears? Or polar bears?

Or perhaps its an issue of ALL bears, as opposed to this stupid line of thinking that it is a SINGLE breed of dogs. It's a terrible comparison.

Great, be concerned. Perhaps take care of your own neighborhood before you try to police the world.

Nice, I guess I shouldn't show empathy for a newborn and toddler 500 miles away.

...is it legal to keep bears? Do people just walk into the "bear store" like they can to the pitbull store?

you can show empathy without judging the parents

or maybe you can't.

they knew they were taking a risk

You can show empathy all you want. But stop trying to control what others can or can't do based on your feelings and nothing else.

Glad you see my point. Your analogy is way off base.

Yes...because it's illegal to own one type of thing that can maul and kill people with ease...
But one is a breed, and one is type. ALL bears are illegal because they ALL can be dangerous.
You are advocating ONE breed because ALL dogs can be dangerous.

Happened 2 weeks ago, by a lab.

lab/Golden mix

Like I said, confirmation bias. Dogs kill and maim people every day. Only when it is a pit does it stand out to some of y'all.

maybe we should treat pits more like wild cats and put them in habitats instead of allowing them to share a bed with us.

Or people should be better informed and not get triggered by media stories that put out what they know will get clicks. A lab killing a kid doesn't get headlines, they are too cute and cuddly. A pit...cha-ching.
