AP POLL - SEPT 29

There should be consequences for losing and somewhat even for poor play.
i.e. Georgia should be treated like a one loss team, because they are a one loss team.

I don't really care what the 1-19 order should be.
I don't care that Georgia lost by just 7 pts. They were down 30 - 7 at half.
I don't care that Georgia would highly likely beat 80% (+/-) of the remaining undefeated teams.
Plenty of teams got the boot completely outta the Top 25 because THEY LOST and that's fair enough.

Rank Georgia the highest of the one loss teams. I'm fine with that. However, they should have to win their way back into the CFB Playoff just like every other one loss team has too.

Same theory applies to one loss USC, Ole Miss, LSU, Notre Dame, Clemson, Utah, Oklahoma, Kansas St, Boise St, Louisville, Illinois, and Texas A&M.

Are we sure AP #20 Kansas St (4-1) can beat AP #23 Indiana (5-0)?
Indiana has won all 5 of their games convincingly (Ave 48.8 - 13) . They won @ UCLA by a bigger margin (42-13) than AP #6 Oregon did (34-13).

1) Alabama (4-0)
2) Texas (5-0)
3) Ohio St (4-0)
4) Tennessee (4-0)
5) Oregon (4-0)
6) Penn St (4-0)
7) Miami (5-0)
8) Missouri (4-0)
9) Iowa St (4-0)
10) BYU (5-0)
11) Indiana (5-0)
12) Duke (5-0)
13) Pitt (4-0)
14) Rutgers (4-0)
15) UNLV (4-0)
16) Army (4-0)
17) Navy (4-0)
18) Liberty (4-0)
19) James Madison (4-0)
20) Georgia (3-1)
21 - 25) Other 1 loss teams

:slaphappy:
Right, because Army, Navy, and Liberty all would wipe the floor with Georgia, 9 outta 9 times

Why?

Georgia can work their way back into the Top 12 by just winning.

Army plays Navy so there's a guaranteed loss for one of them.

Only one G5 is guaranteed a spot in the CFP. Therefore only one of
15) UNLV (4-0)
16) Army (4-0)
17) Navy (4-0)
18) Liberty (4-0)
19) James Madison (4-0)
That guarantee is ONLY IF they win their Conference Championship.

My # 1 - #14 (undefeated) P4's pretty much play each other or will play each other in their Conference Championships.

Why is Georgia being gifted a #5 spot when they should have to work their way back up there as other teams lose?
You know.... Like everybody else does.

I didn't say that. If anything I said the opposite.

"I don't care that Georgia would highly likely beat 80% (+/-) of the remaining undefeated teams."

What does Rutgers have to do AP?

Move to the SEC.

Every undefeated SEC team is ranked.

1) Alabama (4-0)
2) Texas (5-0)
4) Tennessee (4-0)
9) Missouri (4-0)

To go a step further..... Every one loss SEC team is ranked except South Carolina (3-1) who is in 'Others Receiving Votes'.

5) Georgia (3-1)
12) Ole Miss (4-1)
19) Oklahoma (4-1)
25) Texas A&M (4-1)

Even two loss Kentucky is also in 'Others Receiving Votes'.

"It Just Means More"

In all seriousness tho, winning in Lincoln next Saturday as 7 point dogs should get it done.

lol who is gifting them a #5 spot.. ?? it's not even the month of October yet..

lol who is gifting them a #5 spot.. ?? it's not even the month of October yet..

That is my point.

If they're really the #5 team there's plenty of time for them to work their way back up there. LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE (who's not SEC) HAS TO DO.

Georgia trailed 30-7 at halftime.
Never mind that, because SEC teams are not held as accountable as other teams for losses or shitty play.

Case in point MISSOURI moved up two spots to #9 after needing double overtime to beat VANDY on a missed FG in Columbia, MO.
Yep.... The same VANDY that had just lost to Georgia St the week before.
Not Georgia, nope. Georgia fucking STATE. The same Georgia STATE that Georgia SOUTHERN just beat.
Do you know Georgia STATE scored more points on Vandy than Missouri did?

The reason Missouri is ranked #9 is because they're SEC. When a fellow SEC team beats them it'll be "Hey they just beat a Top 10 team".
A&M is ranked #25 despite losing by 10 points to Notre Dame in College Station, TX.
The SAME Notre Dame that lost to fucking Northern Illinois.
A&M is ranked so they can say "Missouri just beat a ranked team".
If A&M wins that game they'll be launched into the Top 15 because...... "Hey, they just beat a #9 team".

Again.... SEC teams are not held as accountable as other teams are for losses or shitty play.

The reason you're fine with Georgia only dropping to #5 is because tejas plays them in a couple weeks. If tejas wins you can say "Hey, we beat the #5 team".
If tejas loses then it'll be"Hey, we lost to the #5 team so should only drop a couple spots."

Michigan above ND and Clemson remains silly

Why? scUM does have a win over the current 11 ranked team but got beat soundly by a top ranked team.

Clemson got beat soundly by a top ranked team but has no signature win. ND lost to a freaking MAC team who hasn't won a game since

Hey yeah, we're gettin' SCREWED!

I demand satisfaction

What the fuck are you talking about? A&M went from 23rd in the AP poll to not even getting a single fucking vote because we had the audacity to beat a 3-1 P4 team on a neutral site.

Please fucking explain the SEC bias you are talking about as it relates to A&M.

This. And given how Michigan's looked, they might do you guys a favor and play their way out of the rankings anyway.

Preseason and early season rankings (when most teams have only played 1-2 conference games) aren't very telling anyway. We'll have a much better idea of what the "real" top 25 teams are in a month or so.

And often against some of the weaker conference teams. ( Except the SEC. They have no weak conference opponents.). And several didn’t play good OOC opponents either. So it is an exercise in futility ranking trams. Jmo

It is so fun to argue over meaningless rankings.
