He’ll be in the SEC when he finally plays.Whether he is good or not really doesn't matter. What UT needed was a big win like this. It (1) puts you in the news big time, (2) might have some coattails for some other players, and (3) he may just live up to his hype.
As for 1, that will come crashing down if you lose 3 or 4 games this year. If you win the B12 the mo will be big.
As for 2, it will only really matter if you get some OL and WR because of it. That's what I have read. My guess is he gives you guys an OL and a WR or 2 you might not otherwise have gotten. But my experience in following recruiting is that people following others rarely happens. Manning will be the exception, but not sure it will be as big as people think. Also, UT was already in on some good players. Insiders at UGA thought we would land Jaylon Hale if we got Arch. He's from Texas, so thinking that's a guy you lock down.
As for 3, if he and Ewers live up to the hype, you guys are solid at QB for the next 4 or 5 years. Ewers for 2022 and 2023, Manning 2025 and 2025/26.
Wish we would have gotten him, but glad he's not in the SEC for the next 2 seasons.
