Are the Reds gonna topple the 62 Mets?

You God damn right it’s my thread

Yep, your thread on the MLB General Board with the Reds and the Mets and a historical event listed in the subject line. But it is all yours to talk about that era in the ancient times when Ron Gant played 2B if you like

At the time of the OP, the Reds had 3 wins on the season and 2 of them were against the Braves. Wasn’t even a positive spin for the Braves

Cubs are thankful for the Reds filling up the cellar :dhd:

I didn't say it was a positive spin on the Braves.

Here's your first response to the first response. You talk about the Braves and their rotation exclusively.

We’ve got 2.5 good starters right now. The main guys in the pen are lights out though.

Fried has been great, so has Wright. Anderson is shaky but effective. Charlie Morton looks done though and I don’t know what we’re gonna do for a 5th starter

I went into the Reds series thinking "the Reds are are gonna turn the corner now and take two out of three from the Brewers". Nope! The Brewers put 34 runs on them in the three game sweep.

...Maybe the Reds should swap rosters with their AAA affiliate?...

I am really looking forward to seeing how the Brewers do against the Braves - a team that can pitch.
The Texas Rangers suck and took 2 of 3 from the Braves. You shouldn't have an issue.

Buddy, Series is over. Took two out of 3 from those Milwaukee losers and could have been a sweep, but bad pen management en sech

Guess the AL is just far superior to the NL if one of our worst teams can take 2 of 3 from one of NL's best. #transitive

To be fair, those two bums that pitched games 2 and 3 against the Rangers are in AAA right now. Thing that was the death blow for the 6 man rotation experiment. When you only have 4 actual starters, you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel to fill out a 6 man rotation

Sure. No problem.

There it is. One sentence at the end mentioning that the thinks that the Braves pitching is good. I guess you got me :noidea:

And any of our pitchers would be AA in your farm system right now :suds:

Brewers fan saying he’s looking forward to the then upcoming Brewers-Braves series in the general forum since team boards are still meant for just fans of the team the board is for. We had a brief conversation about said series.

Got you, bech

The fucker that pitched game 2 looked pretty damn good
Yeah I talk shit about our young guys but there is talent there. Dunning is one for sure, just needs to be more efficient. Had one outing this season where it took like 90 pitches but didn't see the 4th inning. Y'all also saw Hearn and got him his first win. Talent also there, but hasn't translated at the ML level yet. Looking like another Rangers patented AAAA player so far.

You're the grooviest!

Hey like I said, as far as I'm concerned you can say whatever you like in your own thread, even go off-topic. You can start talking about foreign films here and it ain't really against any hard rules I have, it's just gonna bug me and I'm not gonna participate in that discussion.

I generally love talking about baseball, you know 😁

Here's an interesting idea/question (I will do it myself but I won't be on again until the afternoon). Position by position, how do you think the 2022 Reds actually compare to the 1962 Mets?

This is probably slanted in the Reds' favour because it's early in the season and it's a matter of perspective. You don't put up a number that bad over a full season without some guys failing to meet expectations and the Reds haven't done that yet while the Mets have. But I can definitely see a whole bunch of underachieving still to come with the Reds.

What happened to that Aquinos dude? I remember in 2019 he went on a hell of a tear, I even saw him hit a 3 run game tying homer live in person(Acuna walked it off in the 10th).

But he has been one of the worst hitters in baseball since 2020.

Before the season I thought the Reds could still have a good offense even though they lost Castellanos, Winker, Suarez etc.

I thought their infield of Votto-India-Farmer-Moustakas would be fine and Tommy Pham would be a decent addition and if Aquinos could get back to half the player he was in 2019, their lineup would be dangerous. A lot of underperformance.

But with Castillo hurt, to go with Gray, Miley, Lorenzen and Garrett being gone, the pitching was always gonna suck. The rotation was basically Mahle and 4 rookies.

I think the Reds have too much talent still in their lineup to be near this bad all season, but 110 losses is well in play IMO

There’s not much that I enjoy more than talking baseball. Just wish there was more discussion about it here. If there were more active baseball discussions here, I’d really have no use for Reddit
