Are the Reds gonna topple the 62 Mets?

What happened to that Aquinos dude? I remember in 2019 he went on a hell of a tear, I even saw him hit a 3 run game tying homer live in person(Acuna walked it off in the 10th).

But he has been one of the worst hitters in baseball since 2020.

Before the season I thought the Reds could still have a good offense even though they lost Castellanos, Winker, Suarez etc.

I thought their infield of Votto-India-Farmer-Moustakas would be fine and Tommy Pham would be a decent addition and if Aquinos could get back to half the player he was in 2019, their lineup would be dangerous. A lot of underperformance.

But with Castillo hurt, to go with Gray, Miley, Lorenzen and Garrett being gone, the pitching was always gonna suck. The rotation was basically Mahle and 4 rookies.

I think the Reds have too much talent still in their lineup to be near this bad all season, but 110 losses is well in play IMO
he had some of that Cincinnati chili and it was all over for him

Young batters get challenged (usually with fastballs) and hit bombs. Pitchers see them hit bombs and adjust. Batters then have to adjust. Back and forth, forever (although it all levels out some I think). I haven't looked at him specifically in any detail but I suspect that it is some version of that story, a tale as old as time. He's probably got a weakness or two that have been found and he either can't or won't adjust. I think fans sometimes assume it's the latter when it's actually the former. It's not always easy to implement specific changes and keep everything else running smoothly.

I’m sure that’s a major part of it, but he seems to have fallen off much worse than others. I mean, Jeff Francouer sucked when pitchers found out he couldn’t lay off high fastballs or breaking balls in the dirt, but he didn’t fall off that hard. Dude is batting .048 this year

I don't think the floor for Francoeur's skill set is as low as it is for Aquino's, he had more contact skill and was more of a hacker. It's tougher to hit .048 when you swing as often as Francouer did.

Is their owner a somewhat attractive female? Let me know when they put a "strip per win" cutout in the locker room.
depends on your definition of "attractive", although sorry, not a female...i'm sure some out there might find ol' bob castellini easy on the eyes. only slightly better looking than what we had in marge schott

his K% went from 26.7% in 2019 to 36.8% in 2021. It's 53.5% this year (albeit in 43 PA). his career SwStr% is 17.7% and he's only made contact 64.6% of the time. He's another Wily Mo Pena.

Reds have won 3 of 4 since I made this thread. Get ready for the most epic comeback of all time

Hottest team in baseball since this thread was made. Let me know if your team needs a good reverse jinx, and unless it’s the Dodgers, Phillies, Mets, Yankees or Red Sox, I’ll try to work my magic

Look at what I have done to Amed Rosario over the last two games. 40 fucking points of batting average he's picked up, all since I very loudly wondered what exactly it was going to take to get Francona not to write him in every day. Luckily "my guy" (Gimenez) has remained hot as well.

Every thread should be about the Atlanta Braves, sonny. Includes threads on the god damn NBA board

and don't you FORGET it
Might as well make the NBA Board the Atlanta Braves team board.

The only way that board would get any action.
